Boot Camp: Is there a common folder between OSX and Windows?

Hello everyone,

Having installed Windows on my Mac, I would like to know if there is a shared folder to transfer files between my two OS without using an external hard drive.

I do have a hard drive on my Mac desktop titled "Untitled". I can access everything I have in Windows from my Mac, but I can't copy a file inside from OSX to find it later in Windows.

Does anyone have a solution?

Configuration: Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6) / Firefox 16.0

    Thank you for the tip.

As for the possibility of getting Windows 7 to work properly on my Mac, anyone?

Thank you for this complete answer.

If I understand correctly, it is not possible to do this for free or without making your OS unsuitable?

    Thank you,

I think that in the current situation, the best thing is to leave it as is, since Windows can search for documents in the Mac OS section and vice versa, to then process them in their respective areas. If really needed, the cost of Paragon NTFS is not high considering the necessity.

Indeed, it wasn't from the Windows desktop that I accessed the Mac OS area.
To the best of my recollection, I accessed the Mac part by going to "Computer" or "My Computer" (not too sure about the term) from the "Start" menu in Windows. Once I arrived at the top of the hierarchy, I could navigate into the Mac OS area. I couldn't directly open a file, but I could copy it to the Windows side.

    Hello,

When I had Windows 7 installed on my Mac, on a Boot Camp partition, I remember that I could easily access files located in the Mac partition from Windows. This was the case even though these files were in a folder on the Mac partition.
For example, for Boot Camp updates, I would download them from Mac OS and leave them in the Downloads folder. But these files are .exe files, meant to be executed from Windows.
So after downloading these files, I would restart my Mac in Windows, and from there I would drag and drop these files from the Downloads folder of the Mac OS partition to my "C drive," meaning the Windows Boot Camp partition.

For other files, I had no issues either.

Windows, however, cannot write to partitions formatted in Mac OS without the help of MacDisk or Macdrive. The solution would then be to install one of these programs, which I would not do to keep a clean Mac OS partition.
If we want to have a shared space, it would then be possible to create, alongside the two existing partitions, a third partition formatted in ExFat or FAT32 (MS DOS).

Repartitioning the disk implies prior erasure of the hard drive, so a backup of all documents would be necessary. Then, a reinstallation of the systems.

Another solution would be to install Paragon-NTFS under Mac OS, allowing it to write to a folder located in the Windows space.

    Have a good day

"Windows knows how to search for documents on the Mac OS side"

I have an image of a hard drive on my Mac desktop, but I can't find the one that allows me to search on the Mac from Windows.
