Hello,

I want to create a combined Excel chart with two types of data using two different scales. I managed to display one data series as a bar chart (let's call it x) and the other as a line chart (let's call it y). The problem is that my first data series (x) ranges from 1999 to 2012 and the second one (y) starts from 2007. How do I make sure that my line starts at 2007 and does not show a line at 0 before that?

Thank you so much for your help!!!!

    Hello,

In your data table, from 1999 to 2006, you should not put any 0s. Just leave the boxes empty. Normally, the curve starts correctly from 2007. (Note: I tried it in Word 2007).

You go into your data and delete the data you don't want to see appear.

    Talk to you later!

Thank you both, but in Excel 2010, if I leave my cells empty, my curve starts in 1999 and stays at 0 until 2007.
If I only select data from 2007 to 2012, the curve positions itself at the beginning of the chart and therefore corresponds to my period from 1999 to 2004 :(

So, I have no idea what the difference is between my cells and yours, but strangely on my chart it doesn't work, while when I use yours and input my data, it does work!
    Thank you so much anyway!!!

In "Select Data," at the bottom there's "Hidden and Empty Cells"; you need to choose one of the three options:
      o Gaps
      o Zero Values
      o Connect Data Points ...
(I think that's the one that is currently activated).

Start by checking on the file from ccm81 what is set.
