Playing a game from a USB drive Solved

Question

Hello,  Is it possible to run software or play a game from a USB flash drive without any data being saved on the host? Let me explain, I want to play a game (free) with a friend, but unfortunately, it takes 5GB, and I only have 2 megabits/second in download speed. Basically, I start the download, and it lasts 11 hours. The problem is that I don't want to wait that long, especially since my parents wouldn't want me to leave the computer on for 11 hours. So I was wondering if a friend (whom I know has fiber optic internet, so 100 megabits/second) could download it and give it to me on a USB flash drive so I can play from it. Is this operation possible? If so, what accessories would be needed? Thank you for your answers that have long solved my problems... :)

No special accessory is needed; just make sure the game is installed on the USB drive, then simply plug in the drive and launch the game from it.

Hello,  Yes, that is entirely possible. Your friend just needs to send you the installation file of the game (the one he downloaded) and not the entire folder in which he installed it. This way, you can launch this file from the USB drive and install the game on your PC, thus avoiding the download time of the file. -- Akou15
