Hello,
Today I made some mistakes. I started downloading a documentary that I ultimately canceled because the link didn't inspire confidence. And I was right.
Since then, whenever I type something in the search bar, it’s no longer Google that’s doing the work, but Mystart by IncrediBar and this is happening on all browsers (Chrome, Firefox, IE...).
I tried to remove it using CCleaner, directly in the programs, and nothing works; it is nowhere to be found. I installed Spybot, which found it and offered to remove it, which I did, but the problem is still there.
I'm starting to despair. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 12.0

Under Firefox, to get back to Google when typing keywords in the search bar, you need to:
1. Type in the Firefox address bar:
about:config
2. Search for the line (using the filter makes it faster!)
keyword.url
3.Click on this line and replace
http://mystart.magen...t...Bar&search=
with
http://www.google.com.my/search?q=
4. Save everything (hit the [enter] key) and check that you are under Google instead of the Incredimail spyware portal.
With this trick, you can put your preferred search engine in place of Google....

I've already tried removing the add-ons on Firefox, but anyway, that won't solve the problem; all my browsers are infected...
Thanks anyway.

I had the same problem. Download this: https://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/securite/2759-adwcleaner/
Once installed, click on "Scan" then "Remove". The computer will restart and normally you'll be rid of it!

It's AdwCleaner, you need to follow this tutorial:

Hi, so I did "about:config" and once you're there, it's simple, just type "my" and you'll see all the modules with mytart...... and once they are displayed (because I had 3 with the crap mystart code) just change the values to "http://www.google.com.my/search?q=" instead of the link "mystart something...." there you go, solution that worked with Firefox.
Arzmael, you are a god! ;)
Thank you very much. Simple manipulation and more than satisfactory result.

Hello everyone
I was also infected by my start by incredibar and I finally found the solution for Google Chrome.
You need to click on the "wrench" icon at the top right
then choose "settings"
click on "extensions" on the top left
and finally delete the extension related to my start incredibar (for me the icon was an orange magnifying glass)
Hoping to help a few of you ;-)

Yessssssssssssssssssssssssss thank you a thousand times
I followed all the procedures well: uninstallation from the programs, + uninstallation with CCleaner + uninstallation with Spybot + uninstallation with ADWCleaner
But the problem remained with the new tab that opened to an error page!
It really took a guess to find out that Incredibar was hiding under NewTab for Chrome (with
an orange magnifying glass, I confirm)
Thank you again

I just had the same thing happen with Google Chrome, but I can't get rid of it, even by setting a different default search engine... If you have any suggestions, I'm all ears!!
Hello,
AdwC does not yet support the bar... it will be the case in a week!
Otherwise, you will need to open a new thread for us to come and help you.

Thank you very much Eternity, thanks to your precision regarding the orange magnifying glass I was able to get rid of MyStart, as no name indicated that it was this extension that was to blame. Thank you again.
Hello, I found the solution for Firefox!!
Uninstall My Start from your programs, then open a new tab and type in the URL bar: about:config
Accept that you'll be careful and go to Keyword.url and set it to http://www.google.com.my/search?q=
Then, if My Start opens in your new tabs, go to the line: browser.newtab.url and set it to the URL you want, for example http://www.google.com or about:home
There you go :) Have a nice day!

very simple, you go to System Restore found in the Control Panel, then you choose a date prior to the problem you encountered; select 1 or 2 days before and restore your system, and there you go, when your PC restarts, mystart is gone. There’s nothing better than a system restore, :)
why make it complicated when you can keep it simple ^^

Sorry, I was eating. I installed the software and launched the "thing" (sorry, I don't know the terms) and it opened Notepad. What should I do now?
You must follow the instructions; otherwise, there's no point in continuing!

After trying different things, I still have the browser ...
So I followed your advice Saachaa and downloaded AdwCleaner. I would like to know where I can send you the report and if you can help me from there.

Hello,
Actually, I use Firefox with Google.
And following an automatic update of Firefox last week, Google was replaced by My Start by Incredibar.
I wanted to remove it to get Google back, but I couldn't do anything.
My Start by Incredibar didn't appear anywhere (neither in the Firefox homepage preferences, nor in the start menu, nor in the programs and features, nor on the hard drive where installed programs are found), so it was impossible for me to delete it.
I uninstalled Firefox and other Google applications, then reinstalled everything, but My Start by Incredibar came back again.
That's when I started searching online and found this discussion.
I first followed the steps you suggested, Arzmael (about: config) and tried some methods in the modules and extensions tabs of Firefox, but that didn't work either.
So I followed Saachaa's advice and downloaded AdwCleaner while I waited to show the report to someone and get more information to get rid of this My Start...
Following Saachaa's last reply, I added Google to my browser preferences on Firefox (usually I would restore default settings) and it worked.
But after what I read here and there, I want to be sure that I have really gotten rid of My Start by Incredibar, as apparently it’s a virus or something that acts like one.
Now that I have explained my situation to you (I hope I was as clear as possible), let me know if everything is okay or if there are other things to do.
Thank you!
