How to open a .Max file?

I received an email with *.Max files attached.

The sender tells me that these files were created by a Rank Xerox fax machine, but doesn't know how to use them.

I will visit the Rank Xerox website, but if anyone has a tip, it would be welcome.

Thank you in advance.

Hello SOLIMAAN, BmV, hello everyone,

I confirm what BmV says (the site indicated by BmV): I recently encountered this format as a standard extension of the PaperPort software that comes with an HP scanner.
Since there were other possible formats, I carefully avoided .MAX to save in .JPG.

So, in my case, it was an image format.

Re,

And therefore, the traditional image processing programs will be able to read the format... for example XnView

Are .MAX files not the backup files for a compatible Max Drive USB stick for PlayStation or Xbox?
