CS 1.6 Key Configuration

Hello,

I decided to get back into CS 1.6 after abandoning it. Unfortunately, I can't configure my keys. I tried:

_Through the in-game menu, I applied the commands and they reset to default.

_Through the config.cfg file that is in the ctrsike folder. 

bind "q" "+moveleft" bind "z" "+forward"


No results...

_By setting my keyboard to Qwerty mode.

I noticed that I wasn't the only one with this issue, but no "perfect" solution has been proposed. Knowing that thousands of players are playing, can one of them provide me with a little solution?

    In cstrike_french I have another file config.cfg, I will try to modify it. No userconfig file anywhere in any folder of CS 1.6.

    I'll keep you updated on my progress during the day. Thank you again.

      In fact, the config.cfg in the cstrike_french folder is almost perfect, it matches what I want! It's just not active... :/

      If your game is in French, it is the config.cfg from the cstrike_french folder that is taken into account.

      Unfortunately, my game is in French (I even checked on Steam) and yet my config.cfg in the cstrike_french folder doesn't work. I'm going to create a userconfig.cfg file just in case! You never know!

      EDIT: The game crashes when you do that...

    Please check that you do not have a userconfig.cfg file and that your config.cfg file is not read-only.

    Hello,

    Thank you for the quick response. I checked, there is no userconfig.cfg and the config.cfg file is not read-only. Should I try modifying the last line of the config.cfg file, namely: 
    exec userconfig.cfg
    to 
    exec config.cfg
    ?

    Or should I create the userconfig.cfg file?

    No need to modify the last line of the file.

    You need to check in the cstrike-french folder (or something that resembles it).

    I don't know where to check that on Steam, could you enlighten me?
    However, now when I'm in the game, the correct keys are displayed but they don't take effect...
    For example, for the left dodge, it says "Q", but I have to press "A"... Same when I switch the keyboard to Qwerty!

      I see that several games have a cloud next to them. CS 1.6 doesn’t have one, right? How can I fix this and what is Cloud? :S
