Acer Aspire 8530G black screen

Question

Hello,

A friend gave me his Acer Aspire 8530G because it turns on but the screen stays black.

I want to clarify that only the power indicator lights up, but the hard drive indicator does not. I thought about the graphics card, but the screen doesn't seem to be powered at all, so I don't think it's the graphics card because the screen would at least be backlit.

I tried using an external monitor, without the hard drive or the RAM sticks, but it still doesn't work. My friend admitted to shutting down his computer during a update, but he doesn't know which one.

tu vas essayer ceci : enleve la batterie > appuie 30 secondes sur le bouton power > remets la batterie et branche au secteur et démarre le PC

Hello. I don't think it's the screen. I had the same issue with an Aspire 7000 with no hard drive activity or fan, just a black screen. It was due to the graphics card.

No, it doesn't stop at all; you need to remove the battery to turn it off.

No BEEP, but what's strange is that the right side (touch panel for volume adjustment) lights up and works fine (I'm going to eat, my next response may take several minutes)

Hi,

Typical graphics card failure where the chip has overheated: the contacts deteriorate and then you get a black screen.

The test with the external monitor seems to confirm this, especially since you've ruled out the other two possible causes (residual currents and BIOS).

You're good to go for a reballing (around €80 and average reliability).

Thank you for your help, but as I said, the graphics card is not soldered, it is fixed like a RAM bar. I removed it, but the PC does not respond.
