I just received the following message, I read the other similar messages and I suspect it’s a scam.
“I acknowledge receipt of your response and I agree to the purchase, but before I want to tell you that I am currently out of the country for professional reasons.
I am ready to send you the money to reserve the item for me as I will return in 3 weeks.
Regarding the pickup, as soon as I arrive, I will come to your home address.
So if you agree with me, let me know because for the payment
I will make an instant cash transfer as soon as I do it and send you the references so you can cash it at your nearest post office in cash.
To reserve it for me, I need:
- your complete address
- full name.
- home and mobile number.
- last price to ensure I don't make a mistake at the post office
But I am counting on your good faith since you will have the money well before the pickup.
Best regards
Mr. ROBERTS TRUCHON
I can be reached at 00225 09 91 64 85”
The solution I propose is:
1) block the sender so I don't receive any more emails
2) delete the message
3) inform the police.

It's to die laughing, a guy going to buy a second-hand sofa from abroad!
The scam is as follows: the certified check is fake. It's supposedly issued by a foreign bank, most often British. You deposit it into your account and since the bank doesn't have time to verify, three days later you think it's all good because your account is credited.
Either the scammer sent you more than the price of the sofa and asks you to send back the difference via Western Union, or he tells you he wants to cancel the sale and wants a refund, also via Western Union.
You think you have the money, so you withdraw cash from your account and send it back to him via Western Union.
But 4 to 5 weeks later, your bank informs you that the check was fake and debits the amount from your account.
Meanwhile, the scammer has cashed the Western Union money transfer under a false name, of course, so your money is gone, vanished, with no way to get it back.
There you have it.

Hello here!
I’m disappointed!...I see I’m not the only one, the unique, the incomparable...target of Ivorian scammers.
I’m going to have to coexist with other victims, then.
Well, as a sign of welcome, I’m bringing my offering that I found on March 19, in my inbox following one of my ads on eBay.
A bit similar to some of yours; but here, the LELONG family is in San Pedro...these folks travel a lot!...you might say “LE LONG”...a long trip, no doubt.
"Hello
Thank you for responding.
After discussing it extensively with my wife, we agree to buy it in its current state.
We inform you that we are from Savigny-sur-Orge and that we are in San-Pedro for family reasons
and we would be returning on April 5th.
For this reason, and also because your price is favorable, we would like to proceed with the sale through a reservation of the item
since we will have little time upon our return to take care of it due to work.
In this case, we intend to advance you the funds initially for the reservation of the item via an express payment
through postal services where you have the facility to cash the funds in cash and once you have the money at that moment
we will set a date to agree on an appointment at your home for the collection.
So if you agree with this principle, please provide us with the following information so
that we can send you the payment via post (first and last names and your phone contacts)
as well as your home address to proceed with the collection upon our return.
Now if you do not agree with this payment method, please specify yours.
Mr & Mrs LELONG
00225 58 98 90 27 "
Note: I want to make them believe that...and have some fun with them for a while.
If you have any relevant advice, I’m interested.

Thank you for all the information!!
I typed the name of the "person" who sent me the email and this person's name is on Facebook. Then I typed the phone number and there I saw a huge scam!
Fortunately, I didn't send anything back.
Here is the email (pretty much identical to the others)
Hello
Thank you for replying.
So we agree to buy it from you in its current condition.
We would like to inform you that we are from Savigny-sur-Orge and that we are currently on vacation for a stay of 2 to 3 weeks (outside France).
For this reason, and also because your price is favorable, we would therefore like to proceed with the sale by reserving the item since we will have little time to deal with it upon our return due to work.
In that case, we plan to advance you the funds initially for the reservation of the item via cash mandate through the post, and once you have the money, we will then set a date to arrange a home appointment for the collection.
So if you agree with this principle, please provide us with the
following information so that we can send you the mandate:
-Name
-First names
-Address
-Landline and mobile phone number
Upon receiving this information, we will take the necessary steps at the post office.
Now, if you do not agree to this payment method, please let me know yours.
Looking forward to hearing from you

And another one...
It's always the same thing and it's despairing in its stupidity...
I played along and replied: "How are you? Is the weather nice in Ivory Coast?"
"Good evening

Hello,
I am selling my sofa, specifically on topannonces, and I received a response from a so-called André Verrier:
Hello
I just read your message regarding your sofa, there's no problem with the price and since I live abroad (Ivory Coast) for work reasons, concerning the payment method I suggest paying you either by certified check or bank transfer. Don't worry about the pickup because once you have received the money in your hands I will contact you to choose a day when I will send a freight forwarder to pick it up from your home address, all the
transport costs are on me.
PHONE: 00225 48 01 62 66
I found this suspicious, so I did some research and came across this topic, so I am sharing it as well. I have read what the scam consists of, but he also offers a certified check, what is the scam in this case???
For your information, I also found a post on a site for help in Africa that denounces this famous André Verrier!!

Good evening, after listing an item for sale on eBay (in classifieds), I also received strange emails. After the first one talking about purchasing and payment via cash transfer, I provided my contact information (name, first name, phone number). Upon receiving the next one, I became extremely worried and seeing all your messages, I realize I was right to be cautious.
Here is the email received:
Hello Mr. and Mrs.
My manager was able to process the transfer as agreed, he just came back from the post office and managed to do what was needed; I have the 10-digit codes of the transfer with me.
However, the post office director informed me that you should verify the transfer codes on the WESTERN UNION website to see for yourself that the transfer has indeed been completed. So the website is www.westernunion.fr.
And once you are on the homepage, you scroll down a bit and you will see that it mentions checking the status of a transfer. You will need to enter
First name: pierre philippe
Last name: chantier
Transfer codes MTCN: 3161610667
and click validate.
If the codes are valid, you will see that it will state money can be picked up by the beneficiary. And you are the beneficiary. But there remains the QUESTION/ANSWER of the transfer that the director informed me you need to pay your part of the tax which is €450 that I added for you, and afterwards, within the same moment, he could provide you with the QUESTION/ANSWER so that you can withdraw your funds, namely the €1750.
I am leaving you his phone number for the post office director
Mr. ANDRE KOUAME at 00225 49 70 44 03
as he explained to me that since the rebellion crisis that occurred here, French expatriates like me were fraudulently taking out funds for arms purchases and embezzlement from their banks, which was detrimental to their country's economy.
This is why the STATE established a law to ensure that all outgoing fund transfers from their country are verified. Therefore, for our transaction, there were taxes for both you and me.
And not being able to pay them on your behalf since it is for traceability control, my husband and I decided to add your share of the tax, that is to say, the €450 rounded to €550 which I added to the €1200.
Therefore, I have made a transfer of €1750.
For the tax payment, since we are proceeding via Western Union transfer, the tax must be paid via Western Union in order to better verify the traceability and authenticity of our transfer as quickly as possible.
So I ask you to contact Mr. ANDRE KOUAME at 00225 49 70 44 03 once you have finished reading this email for more information and also for him to give you the question and answer that will allow you to recover the funds once the tax is paid; everything will be done in 10 or 15 minutes.
Once you have followed all the instructions, please contact Mr. ANDRE KOUAME at 00225 49 70 44 03 so he can provide you with more information regarding the tax and the unlocking of the funds.
Thank you and keep me updated on your actions.
Looking forward to a concrete response

Hello
I also received 2 emails of this kind, here is a copy:
Good evening
Thank you for your response.
After discussing it at length with my spouse, we agree to buy it in its current state
We inform you that we are from Savigny-sur-Orge and we are in San-Pedro for family reasons
and we will be back on March 20
For this reason, and also because your price is favorable, we would like to proceed with the sale through a reservation of the item
since we will have little time upon our return to take care of it because of work.
In this case, we plan to advance the funds initially for the reservation of the item through an express mandate payment
via postal services where you have the option to cash the funds in cash and once you have the money at that moment
we will set a date to arrange an appointment at your home for collection.
So if you agree to this principle, please provide us with the following information so
that we can send you the payment via post (first and last names and your phone contacts)
as well as your home address to arrange for collection upon our return
Now if you do not agree to this payment method, please let me know yours.
Mr & Mrs ROTH MULLER

Ha ha ha the scammers; they are clever but strangely they buy cars without seeing them and negotiate, don't fall into the trap, lol I'm not the welfare agency lol.

Hello,
the same thing
Hello
The cash mandate has been completed as agreed in the amount of €750 this morning.
I have the ten digits (MTCN) of the mandate in my possession.
A small issue, the post office director informed me that the QUESTION / ANSWER
of the mandate is blocked due to an unpaid tax fee of €117 that you must pay
so that he can give you these elements which will be used for the immediate withdrawal of your money at the post office from your place.
Don't worry, since I am the concerned party, to reassure you
I have completed a total mandate of €750 which is divided as follows:
Planned price: €550 + €200 reimbursement.
Below is the mandatory process to follow for the withdrawal of your funds
1/ You go to the Western Union website:
www.westernunion.fr
2/ Once you are on the homepage, scroll a bit down,
you will see a section where it says (Check the status of a transfer)
3/ You enter the first and last name as follows:
First name: Claire
LAST NAME: Chevron
MTCN No: 6518888074
4/ Finally, you click on the yellow icon which means (check status)
5/ If the codes are recorded, you will see (Money can be withdrawn by the beneficiary)
The reason I made a mandate of €750 (€550 + €200) is for the payment of a tax fee
to which we will be subject, which serves as control and assurance for the banking recovery of the cash mandate,
this tax is a law that has been enacted by the Ministry of Economy and Finance of RCI.
For further information, please contact
Mr. DOUCHEZ YVES AT 00225 55 10 44 65, and also for him to give you the *QUESTION / ANSWER* of the mandate.
Note: YOU CAN THEREFORE OBTAIN THE FUNDS AS OF TODAY
BUT FIRST CONTACT Mr. DOUCHEZ YVES AT 00225 55 10 44 65
HE WILL TELL YOU HOW TO PROCEED FOR THE RECOVERY OF THE FUNDS*

the beautiful scam
the same thing

Hello,
look at me too, I received the same message but with a different name... the phone number is however the same as well as that damn Mr. Douchez Yves with a different number!!!!
I almost fell for the scam!!!
Good evening
Thank you for your reply.
So we agree to buy it from you in its current condition
We inform you that we are from Savigny-sur-Orge and that we are traveling for family reasons for a stay of 2 to 3 weeks (outside France).
For this reason, and also because your price is favorable, we would like to proceed with the sale by reserving the item since we will have little time upon our return to deal with it due to work.
In this case, we intend to advance the funds initially for the reservation of the item via cash transfer through the post, and once you have the money we will set a date to arrange an appointment at your home for the pickup.
So if you agree to this principle, please let us know the
following information so we can send you the transfer:
-Name
-First names
-Address
-Landline and mobile phone number
Upon receipt of this information, we will take care of it at the post office
Now if you do not agree to this payment method, please
let me know your preferred one.
Looking forward to hearing from you

Hello,
Thank you for this information. It's very useful to avoid falling into the trap.
I received the following message:
Hello,
OK, no worries. We have viewed your ad, and my husband and I have mutually agreed to buy it.
Regarding the payment, I can make a cash mandate via postal service since it is instantaneous.
I am from 84 near Nointel (60) north of Paris, currently traveling with my children and husband for professional reasons. We will return in a month and have decided to buy it.
My manager recommends an instantaneous cash mandate for all my transactions since it is quick
and more secure these days.
Regarding the payment, as soon as I have your details, I will make the transfer and send you the references so you can go to your post office to cash the funds in cash.
Since this is a sale and you must have several requests, that is why we want to send you the full amount to secure the sale on our end.
Following this, if there are no objections, I would like to have your details:
-First and last name
-Complete home address
-Your fixed price
-Different phone contacts (to reach you once the transfer is made)
But can I count on your good faith since you will have the money well before the collection?
Please remove the ad from the site if it is not too much to ask. Can you contact us for more details?
Best regards
Ms. CLAIRE MARIE / TEL 00225 58 52 89 11

Hello,
There’s something that really amazes me:
The guy who wants to buy your "item" sends you money, and that instantly, without even seeing the object for sale!!!!
I don’t know about you, but when I want to buy something whether online or not, I only pay in cash in person, or with an e-card!!
A person we don’t know from Adam sends you money for the "reservation of the item", that leaves me doubtful!!
Well, being pragmatic and rational, I think that these folks have blind trust in their fellow man!!!!!!!
And nowadays, sending money after a few email exchanges, with a "Frenchman" traveling for "work" in CI, is either sheer madness or total idiocy!!!!!!!
And finally, to conclude, when you sell something and someone asks you to pay for anything, think seven times before continuing with the transaction!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
See you later
Always think carefully before acting.

Hello, there is a woman on Badoo named Françoise from Yamoussoukro. She claims to live in Nantes, but that's not true. She sets up scams saying she's going to Ivory Coast, but once she gets there, she claims to have a financial issue and asks for money to be sent via Western Union. In the photo, she looks great, but I don't think it's really her. Moreover, she says she will pay back since she has a women's clothing store in Nantes. Her phone number starts with 00225, which are numbers that don't last long; they aren't landlines, I believe.
