just for confirmation  is your version a 32-bit or 64-bit? If you don't know, go to start, right-click on computer, and there you will find the system information.

Hello,  according to the message, it seems that your graphics card is not Direct3D compatible  so if it's a desktop, consider replacing the graphics card and the power supply of the PC; if it's a laptop, there is nothing you can do :-(

Temporarily disable the antivirus and try reinstalling it.  Did you not receive an installation CD with your graphics card?

I wouldn't say it's installed, but I'm wondering if your PC has been formatted and the drivers haven't been installed. It's possible that the PCI bridge driver is also missing, so it would be a hassle to install a graphics card driver if the motherboard drivers are absent.  Has your PC been formatted?

no.  But my PC is newly bought piece by piece and set up from their installation CDs. I may have forgotten some steps.  But it works now, and that's the main thing.  Thank you both bipbip and destrio5
