Hello,
I recently gave my old computer to my father, which hasn't been used since the end of 2009. It was equipped with Windows XP and had a good graphics card. Since I turned it back on in January of this year, the screen keeps flickering as soon as the computer is running. That is to say, if I stay on the desktop without doing anything, the image is still and normal, but as soon as I open a folder, it takes a long time to stabilize, and if I launch the internet, it flickers nonstop. I imagine this happens when the CPU load increases...
Where could the problem come from? Does the graphics card need to be replaced??
Thanks in advance for your replies!!
Configuration: Windows XP / Internet Explorer 8.0

The image is jumpy, meaning it's very choppy, like lines that are skipping, so objects are duplicated on the page and you don't necessarily know where you're clicking!
No, I haven't updated it yet. Do you think that could be the issue?-
"The image stutters, meaning it's very choppy, like lines jumping, which causes objects to be duplicated on the page and you don't necessarily know where to click!
Whoa! You're describing two different phenomena here:
- the image is choppy = seen in videos and games where the image changes a lot (heavy 3D games), the action seems to freeze, then 'jump', then freeze again.
- the 'jumping lines' or better said: 'a horizontal line that repeats' when scrolling through a webpage
It's because the system is overwhelmed in processing certain information.
Recommended solution: update the drivers. If the problem persists, change the hardware (all or part)."
