I would like to know if cleaning the free space on your hard drive is necessary and if it saves space.

      Should free space be cleaned?

      - When a file is deleted, what it contained is not removed from the disk. There are ways to recover deleted files.
      Cleaning free space prevents this recovery.

      Does this operation improve PC performance?

      -No, no performance improvement.

      Emptying the temporary files folder can slightly improve things if it is really overloaded.

      So it's advisable to do it once in a while, right?

      Yes!
      Once a month should be sufficient.
