Hello everyone
I'm currently working on the issue because I have .mod (video) and .moi files from my JVC camcorder that I need to convert.
For the .mod files, use "allok video" which is free for 30 days and easy to use (feel free to find the serial afterwards!)
Once downloaded and installed:
--> 1) click "add files" (then search for your .mod files from your camcorder)
--> 2) set the boxes at the bottom (the "output folder" location, quality, .avi format, image size, sound quality, etc...)
--> 3) then click "convert" (a green button)... and voila!!! your videos appear in ".avi" (meaning they can be played almost anywhere!)
For the .moi files, I'm working on it but apparently, they contain information (filming date...) related to the videos, which is useless for me! And quite frankly, they are unreadable because I haven't found anything to open them!
There you go, I hope I've shed some light on the matter
Have a good evening everyone

Hello,
I'm giving you the correct solution
you need to rename all the files myself
so go to Notepad
and copy this ren *. MOI *.MEPG
then save as and name it rename.bat and exit
what you saved becomes an application so you copy-paste it into the folder where your videos are and double-click on it and there you go, all your files will be renamed in the blink of an eye, see you later

great answer!
For those who didn't understand, let me explain a bit more clearly.
Actually, we're going to create an application that will convert .MOP files to .MPEG or .AVI if you prefer, it doesn't matter. (The .MOI files are useless since they're information files for the camcorder).
The source code is "ren*.MOP*.MPEG" or "ren*.MOP*.AVI". Copy this into Notepad and save it as Renommer.bat
You will have created an application that will convert all .MOP files to .AVI or .MPEG
Note that this application is just to save time, since you can always do it manually by renaming each video, removing the .MOP at the end of the video name and changing it to .MPEG or .AVI

I almost forgot... a .moi file is neither a video nor a photo, so there's no need to save it as ".avi", ".mpeg", or ".jpeg"...
However, Maxmeliano's idea, that is, using "notepad" and "save as", seems good to me.

where does your file come from
be careful, it may not be what you think your file
can you launch it?

Hi!
I've had that little issue too. However, my .MOI files always come with .MOD files, and those are the ones I can read. In fact, you just need to change the .MOD extension to .mpg, and you should be able to read them with Windows Media.
I don't know if that can help you, but I thought I'd give it a try ;-)

Hello,
I just saw this forum since I've been looking for several hours to read MOI files from my JVC camcorder. Actually, I could read them before but not anymore...
I had a whole bunch of files on my PC like MOV09F.MOI
I tried changing them to AVI, MPG, etc... but nothing worked, no player wanted to read them, neither VLC, nor DivX, nor QuickTime... I initially thought it was because I had accidentally deleted my FLV player...
In the end, I found all these MOI files in another folder and there they all were, but with one file having the .MOD extension next to it with the same name as the .MOI.
So it turns out that each video has a MOD and a MOI, and you really need to open the MOD file, which now works well with VLC.
I hope I helped a bit because I've seen many responses saying to convert these MOI with Quick Media Converter or change the extension... whereas in reality, you really need the corresponding MOD. By the way, you can clearly see that the MOI files in properties are very small whereas the MOD files are much larger... I'm not a real expert but I'm happy to have been able to rewatch all my videos from my JVC MS120 camcorder.
Good night everyone
