for your end-of-year project, you have plenty of options,

For example, testing the security of an existing network (using hacking techniques), or setting up a heterogeneous network (with Samba, etc.). You can also choose to implement a RADIUS server, a RIS server, (or even combine a RIS with a Ghost server).

You can also look into setting up a complete network, from cabling to applications... You can also implement SharePoint, an intranet, an IPCop from A to Z, or a server cluster. You could be interested in backup (testing and comparing different techniques and solutions...

So, anyway, you have a lot of choices...

for those looking for a topic in computer science, there are plenty of things to do in the field, such as web mastering. For example, creating an e-commerce site is really trendy these days... or even developing a distance learning platform.
As for me, I'm also working on my graduation project; I am looking to manage an ORACLE database through a website (there's a lot to do on this point as well, it's really modern, you know! ^^).
