Hello everyone, I know this topic has been addressed before and I've been reading the posts for the past two hours without finding a clear and precise answer.
So, I have some internet shortcuts that I want to launch with IE and others with Firefox. I should specify that the icons for these shortcuts were installed by copy/pasting them on my desktop. I read that by right-clicking on the icon, there should be an option "open with", but I only have the option "open". I also read something about "command line", which I don't understand at all. I admit I'm not very savvy with computers; I can handle hardware troubleshooting and such, but not computer stuff.
For example, I would like to open my email directly with one normal click on the IE icon and open the CCM with one normal click on the Firefox icon.
Thank you very much in advance for a clear and precise response.

Configuration: Windows XP SP3 IE8 and Firefox 9.0.1

I'm digging this up a bit, but to keep it simple, you just need to create a shortcut to the application.

Right-click / New / create a shortcut
You will look for Iexplorer.exe in ("Program Files/ Internet Explorer") or firefox.exe in its folder or chrome.exe

Once the shortcut is created on the desktop, right-click on it and "Properties", in the "Shortcut" tab

In the "Target" line, you should normally see: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"

Just add the URL after it with a space, of course, and there you go!!
For example:
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" http://google.fr

And there you go!!
It's magical and simple.

Great, thanks
Just make sure not to forget the space between ...exe " and http...
for example:
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" http://google.fr
and not:
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"http://google.fr
otherwise it won't work!
thanks a thousand again, Minothor!

I just signed up specifically on this site that I use regularly, to thank you for this process that allows you to find the specific icons of website shortcuts on the desktop. After reading many red herrings, among which many are there to sell ads and "tools"... finally, simple, clear, precise, and effective. Thank you again.
