How to set google as homepage?

Solved/Closed

Hello,

I tried to set Google as my homepage, but when I enter Google in the white bar for the homepage, it’s fine, except that when I close Firefox and reopen it, it defaults back to Babylon Search...
Could you please explain why this change occurs?
Thank you in advance to those who reply...

Océ.

Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 8.0.1

I found the solution to stop having Google as your homepage

go to your search engine and type google.com
      go to the site
      click on tools
      click on settings
it says on startup set it to open the following pages
it says add a page type http://www.google.fr
leave the page and there you go, job done!!!

Bunch of noobs, you go to the library, then you click on computer, then where it shows you how many gigabytes you have left on your PC, and then you go to programs and there you look for Babilone, right-click uninstall, and it's done, because I just did it a moment ago.

Good evening, in Firefox, Tools --> Options --> General --> in the box next to Home Page, enter http://www.google.fr/ or http://google.be/, depending on your choice, and finally, click OK at the bottom, close Firefox, reopen it, and the home page will be google.

    Have a nice evening.

I finally succeeded by accidentally coming across https://arobbase.fr/ (go to the "register" link at the top right)
So I even saved this page as my homepage.

To have google as the homepage every time you open a new tab, you need to download a add-on called NewTabURL 2.2.3, https://addons.mozilla.org/fr/firefox/addon/newtaburl/, click on + Add to Firefox, follow the instructions, afterwards, every time you open a new tab, google will automatically be the homepage.

    Have a good evening.

Hello Gilles, did he (she) carefully followed the procedure to set Google as the homepage? If OK was not clicked in the Options window, it is normal for the search engine to be something other than Google.

As for Babilon search, I believe it is an extension that needs to be disabled.

And as Axess9 pointed out earlier, it's also important to differentiate between the homepage and the search bar; Google is a browser and Babilon search is a search engine that can be replaced by Google itself.

Hello chak, your solution seems too simplistic and only holds if, and only if, the PC has been disinfected using cleaning tools such as, for example: Adwcleaner, Malwarebytes, and even others.

Otherwise, you can set Google as the homepage a thousand times and end with ok; if Babylon has infected the PC, it will always revert to being the homepage.

That's it for me, regards and see you later.

I quote "Océdu34": "he hands me babilon search".

In my opinion, a problem, no doubt...

Hello Ptitpop, I suppose so, but personally I am not in favor of Google Chrome as a search engine; it is slower than Firefox, for example. Its speed is praised, etc., but that is not the case.

Now, as I said, this is a personal opinion and everyone does as they please.

    Have a good day.

Hello Valentine, if you have to repeat the process every time, it means your PC is infected. Download this cleaning tool Adwcleaner and run it in Deletion mode. The program will ask you if it can restart your PC, click OK. During the restart phase, Adwcleaner will provide you with a Deletion report, post it here http://pjjoint.malekal.com/ and I will see what else needs to be done or not.

    No problems, just... solutions!!!

Hello Valentine, everything is relative; the fact that it is infected can affect its performance, execution speed, it can lead to the appearance of annoying pop-up ads, a bunch of inconveniences like that.

Did you run the cleaning tool as I suggested?

If so, can you post its removal report by doing a Copy/Paste here http://pjjoint.malekal.com/ and give me the link provided in your next reply, please?

If you can't find the shortcut to the report on your desktop, it's in Local Disk (C:) under the name Adwcleaner[S1].

Once on the page, scroll down a bit, there will be a box named Data, at the bottom of this box there is a green arrow pointing down that indicates a hard drive, click on this arrow to download Adwcleaner.

Yes, I do it okay, but then it sometimes shows me the orange page (well, it depends sometimes) because my mom is with Orange!!
And sometimes it sends me back to Orange.
But right now when I click on new tab, it's all white :-/ And my computer is still just as slow; maybe it's because it's old?
