[sony] driver for camcorder DCR-HC14E?

Good evening,
I can’t find the CD for my camcorder... (Sony DIGITAL VIDEO CAMERA RECORDER DCR-HC14E) which we have never tried to connect to the PC until now...
Well, we needed to find the time...
Anyway, I did find a driver that seems suitable... : http://www.sonydigital-link.com/DIME/camcorders/MDV/MDV.asp?l=fr&m=DCR-HC14E
but after installing it and restarting the PC... my camcorder is still not recognized...
for your info, I don’t have a FireWire input, version: XP PRO...

Hello everyone,
I just had my laptop configured with Vista and I want to transfer my videos from my Sony Handycam DCR TRV14 to my PC... unfortunately I'm having trouble installing the driver (I think it's not compatible with Vista). Is there a solution? Where can I find an updated driver? Do I need to change camcorders? THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP.

(3) Sous Windows Vista, il n'est pas nécessaire d'installer un pilote pour pouvoir connecter votre appareil USB Sony à votre ordinateur.
Un pilote générique déjà intégré dans le système d'exploitation est utilisé pour la communication entre l'appareil et votre ordinateur.
Après avoir connecté l'appareil USB, Windows Vista le détectera et installera automatiquement le pilote approprié.
Under Vista, no drivers are needed (the drivers are native to the PC)..... installation is automatic as soon as the device is connected with the USB cable..

Oops..! Before wanting to use it with software....
I think you just need to plug in the USB cable and turn on the camcorder.... maybe look for something like "PC connection" in the camcorder menu....
And then, a sort of installation procedure should start....
But since I don't have that kind of equipment, I really can't say much more....
