Hello,

You open the workspace, then go to "Tools", then to "Folder Options".

Next, you go to the "View" tab and check the box "Show hidden files and folders".

My problem is: I just acquired a laptop with Vista Premium, when I go online and access my temporary internet files, I'm missing a lot of folders!!
In the properties attributes, the (hidden) box is locked!! In my opinion, that's what's preventing me from seeing the files I'm interested in! Another hypothesis is that the files are saved elsewhere???

I'm also having this problem and I think it's more complicated when I choose (show hidden folders and files + apply then ok) nothing is displayed and the same goes for the other methods...

I had exactly the same problem with the Brontok A virus, the issue is resolved and now on my toolbar, two options are available to me:
internet option or synchronize!!! not the window I had before, that is to say options folders display...

same problem I can't activate the option to show hidden files..
by the way I click on "show hidden files" but when I click on "apply" then "ok" I still can't find my hidden files.. then when I want to do the work again I find that the box "show hidden files" is not checked and instead the box "don't show hidden files" is checked...

I think it's a virus or a trojan or something like that...

don't stress out my friend, here's the solution:
try:
start>run>type regedit
the registry opens, navigate to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folder\Hidden\NOHIDDEN
on the right side double click on CheckedValue, change the value to 2, the same for DefaultValue
then move to the following key: i.e.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folder\Hidden\SHOWALL
on the right side double click on CheckedValue, change the value to 1, and set DefaultValue to 2.

Salam everyone
Here is the solution: use "Nero" (start > all programs > Nero > Nero StartSmart > create a data CD > add) using the window that will open when you click on add (choose the files and directories) go through all the folders you usually open and all the folders you opened after you encountered this problem, you will notice the presence of a strange file (or more) (virus), which is common in all those folders, so delete the file(s)... the problem is solved. You need to do the same for partitions, USB drives, memory cards... before accessing them. It may take some time, but you will be able to keep all your data. Formatting did not get me anywhere...

So... I'm not great with computers but this is kind of weird, I hope someone can help me...
On one of my hard drives, I have a folder that is getting bigger on its own, and it's starting to eat up all my small hard drive space, but I don't know what it is... the file is 2GB, but when we check folder by folder, we find only 11MB of memory and a few files...
Basically, there are hidden files, but the problem is that my Tools bar in My Computer is showing me crap... (mail and news, windows update and sync)... Basically, I can't find the option to show hidden files...

What? Lol!! To show or hide hidden files, there’s nothing simpler!! You open any file, click on Tools -> Folder options and then you just need to know how to read!! Then there are simple ways to really hide a file, which hides it even if the hidden files are disabled!!

Hi!! So for people who have VISTA, just go to CONTROL PANEL __FOLDER OPTIONS__ , then look for HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS in the list, then check the box for SHOW HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS and there you go, then go to the desktop where you were first shown and you will find your folder back!!
