NINTENDO DSI CONSOLE WON'T TURN ON

Hello,

I bought a Nintendo DSi for my son in June 2010. The console is no longer under warranty. The console won't turn on. When we press the power button, the top screen lights up for a second and then goes dark. We went to the retailer where we bought the Nintendo, and they explained that the repair costs would be either $100 or more. Is it the battery that is no longer working? If so, where can I buy one?

Thank you.

... after a white flash of about one or two seconds at startup, the problem often comes from poor placement of the ribbon cable (a set of small connection wires) of the screen in its slot.

.. when the screen lights up at startup (about a second in your case), does it look like a white flash?

So it's not the battery. Should it be repaired or should I buy another one?

My son just told me he found his console wet. Does this have to do with the white flash?

...if your battery was dead you could still start the console on mains power without issue... but that’s not the case here.
If my diagnosis of the incorrectly connected ribbon cable is correct, you need to open the DS to reposition this ribbon cable, but it's quite complicated to do it yourself,

And if we send it to Nintendo, how much will it cost us?

.. for your information, take a look at this: Nintendo DSi Repair
In a specialized console store (Micromania or others), the prices should be about the same.

Thank you for the advice. We're going to buy a new one, a DSI XXL.

...before investing in a new console, if you feel capable or someone around you does, here's a link that explains how to open a DSi (the text is in English but the pictures speak for themselves) and check if the ribbon cable is properly connected.

Ok, we will try. Once we open the DSI, will you be able to tell us where the damaged wires are located?

We managed to open the DS. Where are the damaged wires? What should we do?
