How to read replies on Twitter?

Hello,
I find Twitter quite difficult to use and I could use a hand please!!
1) I am subscribed to certain Twitter accounts and I would like to read all the replies that other users send to the posted messages but I don't know how to do that?
2) To reply to a tweet myself, I must use the "reply" option or "retweet", right? Because I tried to reply to a tweet but my reply only appeared on my "wall" and not in the thread of the replied message...
Can someone help me please? Thank you very much because I'm floundering!!! lol

Configuration: Windows Vista / Firefox 8.0

1) To see the replies to your tweets, go to the "Connect" tab (the one with a "@" on it).
2) Your reply appears in your timeline (not "wall" :p) but also in the previous tweet. Click on the tweet itself; it will expand to show all the comments :)
