Hello,

I have a problem with my PC.
I have a Samsung running on Vista, and I use it daily.

One day, I turned it on and the startup screen, with F4 for "recovery" and F2 for "setup," got stuck.
So whenever I press F4 ("recovery," to format I suppose), it says: please wait, and then it says: the system is not functioning (in English).
Whenever I press F2, it loads and then displays a screen with options like these:

https://www.pixenli.com/apercu/2QB-OhdK

https://www.pixenli.com/apercu/xBV5p5xl

Can you help me?
Can you tell me how to format my computer in this case?

Thank you in advance.

Sincerely, mew1000

Hello,
F2 is for the BIOS, and F4 is for restoring the PC.
When it says Please Wait, and when the window for the EULA or the Samsung Recovery Solution 4 program is on the screen, press the following keys simultaneously: ctrl+alt+F10.
Password: secos or go to: Samsung Recovery Solution Image.
There, select export, then click on: select a location which equals your destination drive.
The destination drive for storing the initial full backup image contained in the hidden Recovery partition can be:
a partition of the internal hard drive of the PC, except for the hidden recovery partition,
or an external hard drive, in which case connect it to a USB port on the PC,
or a USB flash drive, in which case, plug it into a USB port as well.
Choose the destination and then click OK.
You will likely get several messages indicating that a file with the same name already exists at the chosen location; the program will notify you with a message.
From there, click on: start and in the new window, click on yes.
The export of the initial full backup image contained in the hidden recovery partition begins.
When the image export is finished, click OK.
Close the window and then shut down the system.
Restart the PC, then press the F4 key again just before the logo and see what it offers.
If pressing the F4 key is still not working when starting the PC, the MBR also needs to be repaired.

Thank you very much for the explanation, but I didn't understand well.

When you say to press ctrl+alt+f10, at what point should I do that, because I've tried it on all the screens and it doesn't work?

As soon as you press F4 and just a little before the Samsung logo, you should see lines displaying: Samsung Recovery and choose the one that says solution 4, then press the keys mentioned above simultaneously.

Try restarting in safe mode, then reconfigure your Anti-Virus if it's Kaspersky, so that it doesn't launch at startup.
