Hello,
I was playing The Sims 3 and my sim was playing the drums, and I made her leave. When I hover my cursor over the drums, it says object in use, for example: Alexander Abercombrie. The same thing happened with my piano.
Help me, I don't know how to unlock them.
P.S.: I can't sell them or burn them.

Hey, chill out friends! x)
So what you can try, Cl0h, if you haven't already, is to use the code "resetSim Firstname Lastname" which "unlocks" your sims. (action to be repeated for each of them) Maybe they're the ones stuck and preventing the objects from working properly ;)
Otherwise, do you have any downloaded objects (other than the "official" ones)? Because sometimes those objects can cause the game to glitch in various ways and it's necessary to remove them to restore proper functionality. That's actually often the cause of quite a few problems.
Anyway, I hope I helped you and if not, I'll answer any questions you have (but I don't have all the answers, okay? xD) -
You have absolutely no downloads (objects, patterns, etc...) or mods (which are used to modify certain aspects of the game like... I can't remember xD), nor skins (to change the sims' appearance, for a better definition of body features in particular) or extra hair, clothing, etc...? Absolutely nothing? (I'm specifying all this just in case, you never know, everything can be important ^^)
So alternatively, can you delete them via the buy menu and put them back? (but if they're in use I don't think you'll be able to)
If you can't, activate the code "moveobject on" and try to delete them. Then, disable the code by typing "moveobject off", and try to repurchase them.
Good luck! :) -
<ptit conseil=""> Turn off the game and turn it back on. </ptit>

Well yes, for example, if your Sims is on a chair, it's normal that you can't move the chair, sell it, or do anything with it, your Sims must not be on it or using it.

What’s the point of turning the game off and then on again???
You're talking nonsense! -
I have the game, at least she says that HER Sims are not on top of the object

My Sims are now unlocked and I don't have any downloaded items. And my piano and drum set are still locked! x)

Well, for those who have The Sims 1, it's a known issue since the only way to resolve it is to demolish the house. This bug hasn't changed in The Sims 1.
The object is marked as in use even though there's no one around (it's impossible to move or anything), you just have to demolish.
Best regards,
