Well, I'm the same... It's really annoying because you play calmly and suddenly the image freezes... it's super frustrating, especially when you've just done a lot of things, and you have to start all over again... And this started since The Sims: Pets & Co... Otherwise, VIP and the others, I had never encountered this problem... Maybe it's because of the update? I don't know. About 2 weeks ago, I reinstalled everything but nothing works... it runs for a while and then crashes... I don't know what to do. But it's super annoying...
What to do?! -
Exactly the same issue, and I’m relieved to see that I’m not the only one in this case, but worried to notice that apparently, it doesn’t necessarily get resolved...
I got the Animals and Co. expansion for Christmas, and I’ve been playing it regularly since, without problems... And the day before yesterday, suddenly the image freezes for about ten seconds, every 30 seconds or so. You can hardly do anything at all!
I’ve considered deleting my family, but I’ve been playing with the same one (and it’s the only save) for nearly a year, and tons of generations have passed in the same house, and I’d hate to cancel everything because of this problem.
If I had to find a triggering element, it would be that one of my sims just became pregnant, but that has happened many times before, so it shouldn’t be that...
My PC is also new; it’s only a year old, and since I bought it last year, I haven’t had any issues with The Sims 3, unlike the major slowdowns on my old PC...
I just installed the update, thinking it would change something, but nothing... So if anyone finds a solution, please don’t hesitate to share; it would be too bad to be stuck on such a great game! -

Hello,
I had the same problem and indeed this bug was only on one of my sessions.
I went into the graphics options, removed fullscreen mode, played for 5 minutes like this and it worked perfectly, so I switched back to fullscreen mode and since then I haven't had any bugs!
I hope it works for you too ;) -
Hello. I've had the same issue, but after some intensive research and a bit of luck, I found a solution.
There are 4 different possibilities, because I made 4 changes before restarting The Sims 3.
1. I updated Windows via the Control Panel - Windows Update.
2. I searched for an update for my graphics card, but that didn't work, God knows why.
(note: these 2 solutions come from the official The Sims 3 forum and an official post)
3. I tried to install Overwatch. When I say tried, it's because I don't know if it worked or not. No signs. But since it was to solve the problem, I don't care now.
4. And so what seems to me to be the most likely solution, but I'm not a computer expert: To install said patch (Overwatch), you need to delete these files:
-CompositorCache.package
-CASPartCache.package
-SimCompositorCache.package
-ScriptCache.package
They can be found in X"/My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3
These are folders that the game will recreate on its own at the next launch.

I hope you can manage with this.
WARNING BEFORE INSTALLING A PATCH, BACK UP YOUR GAME ELSEWHERE!

Did you delete those 4 files?
If yes, I can't do anything else for you, because for me, the problem has been solved by one of the 4 procedures.
It may also be caused by too many add-ons in the game.
I specifically have the base game, 2 kits, and 1 add-on. If I add another add-on, my game bugs.
I hope I helped you.

I’m joining the long line of players in trouble. Same issue as you guys! I contacted EA by phone, and although the reps were nice, they blamed it on my computer. When I mentioned that many players online have pointed out this issue, the only thing I was told was, "Oh, you know, complaints online are relative..."
After 4 phone calls and just as many emails, I was finally told that the problem has been reported to the technical platform, which was aware and currently looking for solutions...
Despair.-
I have the same problem as you, even though I only have The Sims 3 (no expansion packs) and not The Sims Animals. Time freezes, only the environment remains active (Zzz, movement of the sea, leaves, etc.). It becomes really frustrating; I can’t play anymore. Time sometimes freezes every 30 seconds for 5 seconds, up to 1 minute, and sometimes I can play for 5 minutes without a problem. If anyone finds a solution that works, please help us. I have been on several forums, but I haven’t found a solution. It can’t be my computer; it is just over a year old. I have been playing The Sims 3 for 5 months before this problem occurred.

Good evening, I am also in the same situation as you. However, I have been playing with it since December for at least 2 hours a week and it has never happened to me. I'm not sure, but it seems to have appeared when my sim had a baby...
I don't know what to do, I've tried changing the configuration options but they were all set to minimum, I deleted some downloads but nothing works.
Can someone help me?
Thank you and have a good evening. -
Hello everyone.
I'm relieved to see that this issue is not just happening to me
It’s very annoying. But I feel like after a certain amount of gameplay in a household, the game bugs out; indeed, during one session, after 2 or 3 generations, time started to stop (while water, fire, TV and computer, thought bubbles, etc. didn't stop). I eventually decided to delete that save, and I started others without any issues; however, once again, the bug returned in one game... I've played quite a bit, so I'm going to try deleting all the downloaded content, and I'll keep you updated
It's really very frustrating, and it's impossible to play with such stops...
Best regards, kent. -
Good evening,
I am joining your club :)
Same problem. I have no downloads, only Sims 3 + Sims 3 Pets Limited Edition.
At the beginning of a game, no problem, but after 2/3 hours of gameplay, suddenly the image freezes (the trees move, the sims snore, ...) but the clock gets stuck and it's impossible to slow down or speed up time or take any other action.
Like you, I don't know what to do.
EA is aware of the problem but hasn’t found a solution. Maybe by "bothering" them with our messages, they will look for a solution (a corrective patch?). -
Hello everyone, I HAD the same problem as you,
I fixed it by going to 'C:\Users\XxX\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\DCBackup' and deleting ALL files EXCEPT one named ''ccmerged.package'' and voilà! No more 'figation' bug (LOL) ;-). There you go, I hope I helped you, otherwise I have no ideas :).-
-
-
I tried this advice from Tyto, which is to delete everything in Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/DCBackup, except for "ccmerged.package," and honestly, that’s the only thing that has worked for me so far!
After that, I’m knocking on wood, I don’t know how long it will last, but it’s already a good solution.

I found the solution! Install the Gboost software which allows you to stop other activities on the computer! This software is free! Disable your firewall to make it work! You click on the red button in the middle, you will see your desktop change and then launch the game! It works for me. After you're done, deactivate it by clicking on this button which will logically be green! There you go, hoping to have helped you!

Small problem, my cousin installed the software to boost it as you said, but I still have the same bug. At first, I thought it was my party that had a problem, so I created another one and played there for more than two months, sometimes non-stop for 6 hours, without any issues. And now I have this problem again, even though my computer can easily run it; nothing works.
-
-
Exactly the same problem, but it occurred when my Sims escaped a fire that started in their house, and since then I've been experiencing these repetitive bugs and I haven't found any solution!
-
Same problem and no matter the version or the computer. I've known about this problem for years and have tried every solution that came to mind. The problem disappears for a while and then comes back. I've changed computers twice since The Sims 3 was released. And whichever solutions I try, the problem sometimes goes away; I can even play for several weeks before the bug appears again.
The best explanation I've found is that the inventory causes issues, and emptying it provides a break. But when I saved a game that had already started bugging, it was doomed.
Saving the household and reinstalling while restarting the lot is the most effective. But you lose all friendships or family ties, and the same goes for quests. It's quite annoying.
So I hope EA will hurry up and come up with a solution... -
I am joining you as well.
Well, I have had The Sims 3 for a very long time. I had never had this issue before, but for some time now, it has been happening. At first, it only happened in a game with three Sims. I don't think this bug was triggered by the arrival of a baby or a fire, as there has never been anything like that in this game. In the end, I abandoned this game, but I didn't delete it. This game was set in Bridgeport.
Then, I played with a vampire game in Bridgeport that I had already played a lot. I played it for a while and then it happened to that one too.
So I also changed games without deleting it. I played with my favorite game, the most advanced one. It had never bugged before. I saved these three games while they were bugging.
Anyway, regarding add-ons, I don't have Animals & Co. I only have Access VIP, City Living, and Supernatural. The problem started around the installation of Supernatural, but also of City Living, which I installed simultaneously. However, I can't remember if the bug happened before or after the installation of these two expansions.
I would like a solution that is low risk and doesn't involve too many complicated manipulations, as I am really bad with computers.
My machine has a big problem with the graphics card, even when I am not on The Sims, the image freezes, although it doesn't always do it.
I don't think I have any mods, as I don't even know what that is.
My game is up to date. Its version is: 15.0.135.020001.
In downloads, I only have a dress and Riverview.
I hope you would be willing to help me.
