I cut the backup camera wire on my camper van.

Can I splice it? Or should the entire length of the wire be changed? Thank you.

Hello.. I made the same mistake!! I tried to re-solder the 7 wires myself but it didn't work... and for good reason, there's a core (more precisely a ground braid) in the sheath, so you also need to solder this braid and then everything works now. Enjoy your time camping and maybe one day on the road... Sylvain...

Hello, if I have one good piece of advice to give you, it's to completely replace this cable. Of course, it can be repaired, but the wires used for the video are specific because they are "shielded", which requires meticulous work both in terms of connecting the cores and insulating the shields. Furthermore, the wiring should be staggered to avoid any surprises. If you do this work, know that a perfect insulation is essential.....Good luck, best regards. Michel "24"

Thank you for your response. I will try to splice it by soldering the wires one by one and the ground braid and the aluminum foil. It is not easy to find the same one. I have little choice; moreover, I can add a terminal strip to the wires once soldered. The connection will be in a closet, so once fixed, it should no longer move. Thank you for your response. Best regards.
