Hello,

I would like to know, firstly, how to find the necessary information that explains how to change the RAM on the HP 6550b laptop by myself.

I would also like to know where I can find information that would help me know which RAM to buy for my machine. I checked the HP website, but all I found was online sales of these computers, and not the compatible RAM.

Thank you in advance! Thank you very much!

If it's the same model, you'll have the answer to your question:

    www.laptopspirit.fr/75848/hp-probook-6550b-156-inches-antireflective-pro-core-i3-370m-7200-trmin-a-989e.html

And for changing the memory modules, open the corresponding flap. Slightly push apart the small tabs on the sides of the modules, and it should be able to come out.

    (max 8GB / 2x4GB in DDR3 1333MHz)

But it seems to me that some RAM sticks are larger (or taller) than others: how can I be sure that it fits well in the machine?

You need to take memory modules labeled "SODIMM" or "SDRAM" for laptops

    like here for example.

It goes without saying that with a 32-bit system, there's no need to install more than 3GB of RAM.

If it's a 64-bit system, no problem. However, depending on usage, it won't be useful to put 8GB in it.

I want to add 8 to do 3D, and I'm running on 64 bits.

      Thanks for everything ^^!

Just to be sure (I apologize, I just want to make sure I don’t mess anything up)

    is this RAM compatible?

It seems huge for fitting into a laptop, X,D I might be naive but you never know.

no worries, it is indeed compatible.

take a look yourself at what the RAM modules of your laptop look like and you'll see. ^^
