Well, I've done some research on embroidery machines,
it's amazing what can be done these days.
Anyway, here is a link where you'll find information, as well as free "jef" files:
www.stecker.be
in the left menu, you'll find embroidery to download.
;)

I want to convert jpg files to jef files for use on an embroidery machine.
How should I do it? Is there software that allows this conversion? Which one?
Thank you

Hello,
I didn't even know it was possible to do this kind of thing, lol,
but I read that "jef" is an embroidery format, so it has nothing to do with an image.
To have an embroidery pattern, it needs to be digitized with embroidery software.
What type of machine is it? I would like to know how it works. :)

Good evening everyone,
I've read all your comments, but I can't make sense of them; maybe it's just too complicated for me... anyway, I'm daring to ask my questions anyway, here I go: I just bought a Brother 1500D and it only reads PES files. I've downloaded Embird but I'm working on Vista and it doesn't work! What should I do? Is there another demo software to download?
Thank you for your responses.
Nath.

To convert jpg files into embroidery, you need to use Janome's Customizer software, which allows you to automatically or manually transform an image in bmp, wmf, or jpg format into embroidery. However, be careful, although the software allows you to import images in bmp or wmf format, you must use the copy/paste function to import a jpg image. If you are working in Windows mode, use the Paint accessory to perform this operation.
I have a Janome computerized 4-needle embroidery machine and the Digitizer software.
I want to convert my bmp, jpeg images into JEF format so that I can use them.
I don't know how to do it.
Can you help me? Urgent.

Hello,
I just saw your message on a forum, I have exactly the same problems as you. I don’t know how to convert my .jpeg or .bmp files into .jef. Have you found a solution? If so, could you please keep me updated? Thank you for your help. Just to clarify, I have the Janome MB4 and the Digitizer software. Steff

Hello,
Indeed, I'm being told that I can convert jpeg or bmp files to .jef, but the problem is that no one is telling me how to do it and I can't find how to do it in the software, because when I try to open them from the software, it won't allow it. Could you please tell me the steps to follow to convert them? Thank you. Steff

I don't have the software so I don't know how it works, I have Drawings 4 which cost me an arm and a leg and I have the same issue with the explanations because there's no help from the person who sold it to me, but I can still convert my jpg or bmp files into any embroidery machine format. I thought Digitizer Pro was better explained with a user manual in French unlike Drawings. Here is a forum where you can get help http://forum.motifsdebroderie.com/. My MSN address is gemo41@hotmail.fr.
The Janome site, in English as well. If I understand correctly, it is Janome that we owe the existence of .jef files to.

I am changing machines from Toyota to Brother PR 600, so how do I convert my embroidery files made in EDC to PES? Thank you.
The price varies depending on what you want to use it for. There are "basic" embroidery machines for the general public that range from about 700 to 2000 euros, which can be used for about 1 hour per day on average (hobby use). Then there are semi-professional machines that range from 2000 to 8000 euros, and after that, there is almost no price limit.
However, be careful, as with most manufacturers you need to purchase the software separately, and at high prices.
As for the conversion of image files (jpeg, bmp, ...) into embroidery files, there is currently no software available that can produce quality work; you need to manually digitize for it to be done properly.
And that represents hours of work.

You have some very well-made videos in French to learn how to use Embird
Best regards, lili007

Merci.
Hello!
For the owners of the Husqvarna Viking Design 1, who need to convert embroidery files
to hus, shv, or vp3 and who need a floppy disk in Husqvarna format with 4 menus etc...
I have the solution to your problem
(for the hus format, it's simple, download Ambassador and click "save as" hus)
for the rest, it's more complicated but soon you will regain your freedom! lol

re-hello
I started a response, I had a little technical incident, I’m not sure if the response went through or not, anyway, I hadn’t finished, so a thousand apologies! I was saying that I happened to come across this forum, that .jef files like .hus or .art for example are embroidery files, different depending on the brands of machines.
They can be converted among each other with conversion software, but to go from an image or a drawing to embroidery, you need creation software, which are often quite expensive and sold by the machine brands, the cheapest being, in my opinion, Embird. And you can load the entire software in demo mode, using it completely for a while, which is not the case for many other demos.
But it’s work, it doesn’t happen on its own.
There are indeed software like AutoDigitizing, but I find that it's not great.
So, I hope I’ve answered the question.
Have a great end of the day.
Lucie

Hello,
I've downloaded Embird but I admit it's all Greek to me. Could you explain to me how to convert a photo or file into a pattern for an embroidery machine?
I've already been on the Embird help forum but I don't understand anything there.
If you could help me, that would be really kind of you.
Thank you.

Hello
you have a website where you can get it directly in the jef format, it's called Broderie Création, and if you want to convert it, you need to buy Emberd for the price of 120€

Hello ANN, I don't know if you have solved your problem with the jef files, but we can't convert JPG files to jef files if we don't have the right software, and that is the DIGITIZER, because the jef format is a format supported by Janome products. HELLO.
Hello
to create a design for an embroidery machine starting from a simple drawing, if you want a correct result, you have to "digitize" the drawing manually. There are software programs that allow for auto-digitation, but the result will never be as good as doing it yourself.
Personally, I use Embird software, the most comprehensive and the cheapest on the market (compared to the 1000 or 1500€ of other software on the market, it’s worth it: less than 500€ for the complete suite).
You will need the base module + the studio module to digitize.
It should be noted that Embird allows conversion and creation of files in all machine formats (except for the ART format, which is specific to Bernina machines... in this case, there's no other choice but to buy the software for 1500€...).
Before being able to digitize logos, you obviously need to have a minimum knowledge in digitization... and ask for help from knowledgeable people...
There are tons of tutorials to learn digitization, but for now, the really valuable ones are in English...
There are also people who digitize designs on demand for those who don't want to waste time learning how to digitize...
Have a nice day
