Kenwood car radio issue

Question

Hello,
I had a problem with my Kenwood KDC-W4537U car radio. It first switched to PROTECT mode, I read online that I just needed to remove and replace the fuse, which I successfully did. I then put the unit back in place and everything was working fine, but when I came back to my car, the unit wouldn't turn on... When I turn on the ignition, I can hear the CD player making noise, but nothing shows up and there is no sound... I would like to know if you could help me. I thought about the fuse I touched, but since the CD player is "working," I have abandoned that idea...

You need to unplug the ISO connector from the car radio, then disconnect the negative terminal of the battery, reconnect the ISO connector, and then reconnect the negative terminal. This allows the car radio to reset.

Simply that the reset buttons are often 'discreet', not prominent, and that you have to press them with a pointed object.

But if there is one, the manual should mention it...

I just saw the manual for your car radio (page 4), the reset button is right at the bottom right of the big potentiometer.

It's not certain that this is the only issue, but it doesn't hurt to check...

Hi, apparently I have the same problem. I changed my battery and since then my device won't restart at all. However, I can eject the CD, so it seems to be powered. I tried another device and it works, I don't really know what to do, if anyone has any idea?

Hello, my car radio also shows "protect". I've tested all the buttons but nothing reacts except for ejecting the CD.

I haven't done anything, no battery change or anything, I just parked and when I left for my day it wouldn't work anymore.

If anyone has found a solution, please share because I feel like I'm going to go crazy with 1.5 hours of driving every day without music...

I managed to solve the problem on my unit.

As you said letotofdu44, and as stated in the manual, the protect mode means that a wire is in contact with the car, and therefore this mode activates for safety reasons.

For my part, I disconnected and reconnected all my speakers, making sure that no wires were damaged. Then I reset the car radio (small hole at the bottom center of the front, accessible only with a rod or a pointed pen).

For safety (or if it still doesn't work), you can disconnect the speakers and reconnect them one by one to see if the "bad contact" comes from a specific speaker, and perhaps more easily identify the problem.
