Problem with my Gigaset A400

Solved

Hello, I have a Gigaset 400 duo. After my move, when my phone line was activated, I connected my device to its base and after charging its battery, I wanted to check its operation. I only receive the voicemail; when calling from another phone, I can't get through, as after 3 or 4 rings it goes to voicemail. Additionally, when I press the voicemail button, it displays on the screen: Rep. ext: 00+**, it seems to be stuck on this information that I can’t erase. What can I do? If someone can help me, I thank you in advance.

Configuration: Windows XP / Internet Explorer 7.0

You have an ADSL + TV + Phone contract with Orange.
    Question:
Is it a total unbundling contract (with retention of number in 05) or are you still subscribed to France Telecom??
In the first case... total unbundling you must have been told to plug the phone into the livebox and not directly into the telephone line, as before..
In this case on the livebox you should have a light representing a phone that is fixed on if the service has been validated...
Note on phones via the livebox.. there is no dial tone when picking up...

In the second case, still with France Telecom everything should work as before (dial tone when picking up) and on your Orange contract there should be a phone number in 09xxxxxxxx (so that you can plug in another phone and benefit from free calls with it)...

I lost the user manual during my move
This manual was provided in the link above, just click on it to download it.
Very difficult to catch a black cat in a dark room
    Especially when it's not there...!!!!

Hello baladur13, and especially thank you for all the valuable information provided diligently. I contacted my operator and the problem is resolved; I had just simply plugged my socket incorrectly. Instead of connecting it to the telephone output of my livebox, I had plugged it into the back of the telephone socket that connects my telephone socket to my livebox. Thank you again for all the trouble I caused you, and have a nice day.

Hello, I take advantage of the fact that the message is recent. Actually, I have been with Free for a long time. My old phone broke down, so I bought the same phone, Gigaset 400. With the other phone, when someone from Free called me, even if I didn't have them in my registered list, I could see who was calling. But with this one, it's not working. Yet nothing has changed!!! Except for the phone.
Is there something to do? I didn't understand their explanations in the manual.

      Hello
If I can trust the instructions
To benefit from the caller ID display, there are 2 conditions
You must have subscribed to the caller ID display with your operator.
Your correspondent must have authorized the aforementioned display of their number on their side
Finally, the number of this correspondent is stored in the phone directory, so the name will be displayed...

If you did not request caller ID, the phone will display "External call"
If it's your correspondent who did not authorize it, the phone will then display "Hidden call".

As for Free, see here: https://www.free.fr/adsl/pages/telephone/services-de-telephonie/les-services-lies-aux-appels-entrants/affichage-du-nom-de-l-appelant.html
Caller ID Display You can view the identity of a caller subscribed to Freebox (if they have not activated the identity presentation restriction service) directly on your phone connected to the Freebox. This function requires a phone that can display alphanumeric characters. This option is enabled by default on your Freebox. This function is automatically activated. To benefit from it: The phone used must be equipped with a screen allowing the display of alphanumeric characters. The correspondent must make calls from the Freebox service Telephony (phone connected to their Freebox). The correspondent must not have activated the identity presentation restriction service.

If I understand correctly, you can therefore only see correspondents who have authorized caller ID and are also subscribers to Free.

Thank you, but with my other phone, I had it, that's what is strange, and I didn't ask anything from Free this morning. My mother-in-law called me and I got her number starting with 09........... and she is with Free too. I changed my phone, not my provider, so logically it should be fine with Free!! That's where my problem is; they don't appear on this one!!!

    Hello
I assume your Gigaset is an A400

If I can believe the manual (on page 9) http://gigaset.com/medias/sys_master/A31008-M2201-N101-1-7719_fr_FRA_15-06-2010.pdf
it seems that this indication (although the manual mentions "Rép.int" instead of "Rép.ext") corresponds to details about the number of recorded calls.
The first number 00 indicates the number of new messages and the following + is the number of old messages
So, the display of 00+** doesn’t seem unreasonable to me..

As for the rest... is this phone connected directly to the line (numbers in 01-02-03-04 or 05) or is it a phone connected to a box (internet + phone subscription numbers in 09)

In the first case, do you hear a dial tone when picking up the handset?
In the second, the telephone line is usually validated 24 hours after the internet line...

Hello baladur13, thank you for your first response. I would like to add this: it is indeed a Gigaset A400, my line is on 05 with a Livebox connected to it. I have an internet, ADS phone, and TV subscription contracted with Orange 10 days ago. I received a text message notifying me of the activation of my line as well as the implementation of all my offers, but despite this, I cannot use my line. Moreover, I misplaced the user manual for my device during my move, and I don't know what to do other than change devices. Thank you again for your information. Best regards.
