Hello,
I am using Windows XP SP2 Home Edition.
I would like to use the Task Scheduler to launch a program, but it asks me for a password. However, I am the only user and I am an administrator account.
I would like to avoid having to enter a password every time I start my computer or having to select an account.
I have seen on some forums that this is possible, but I didn't understand anything.
Thank you in advance.

I just had the same problem and I found a way to fix it:
you need to modify the registry to tell it not to check the password.
Before modifying a registry, it is strongly recommended to make a copy first. I cannot be held responsible for any computer issues following the modification of the registry.
Here is the modification to be made:
HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa
Set the variable "limitblankpassworduse" to 0
And there you go, it's done (after restarting your PC, of course).

Hello
No scheduled tasks without a password
to avoid having to type it every time
go to run control userpasswords2, click on your account (just to select it) then uncheck users must enter ... then APPLY AND THERE YOU PUT YOUR ACCOUNT AND THERE YOU HAVE TO TYPE YOUR PASSWORD.
it's a bit quick but I'm in a hurry if there's a problem silverchair-power@hotmail.fr

Hello,
For the moment, do you need to enter a password to log into your session or can you just press Enter to open it?

And well, why do you say the opposite:
I would like not to have to enter a password every time I start my computer or have to select an account.
What exactly would you like to do?

I say the opposite because I did not plan the task... It gives me the usual error:
"test.job" (test.exe) 02/03/2006 12:02:00 ** ERROR **
The attempt to connect to the account associated with this task failed. The task did not start.
The specific error is:
0x8007052f: Logon failure: user account restriction. Possible reasons include disallowed empty passwords, restrictions on logon times, or a policy restriction has been enforced.
Verify that the "Run as" field of the task and the password are valid, then try again.
I would like to use the task scheduler &

Are you an admin? That's strange.
If you put the computer to sleep instead of turning it off (without logging out), does it work?

I have successfully entered the modification in the "limitblankpassworduse" registry
Everything is working great. The computer wakes up from sleep, (even though the screen remains in sleep mode, but I don't really care since it's for waking up to music) but Winamp does not start!!! When I check the log, it says:
"17 L'amour en fuite.job" (17 L'amour en fuite.mp3) 05/08/2007 19:20:09 ** ERROR **
The attempt to connect to the account associated with this task failed. The task did not start.
Check that the "Run as" field of the task and the password are valid, and then try again.

I would like to emphasize that I did not set a password for my administrator account!!
Thank you for the help
P.S. I have XP1

Thank you!
