CD player opens and closes by itself Solved

Question

Hello,
For several days, my CD-ROM drive has been opening and closing randomly several times a second a few minutes after turning on the computer. This significantly slows down the PC.
An "autoplay" dialog box for CDs also opens.
After about an hour of my CD drive being mishandled, this stops and starts again later.
I keep scanning my disk for viruses but to no avail!
What can I do?

You might find this silly, but I had exactly the same issue, and since I didn't quite understand what needed to be done, when my player closed, I held my hand on it for 20 seconds, and now my player works just fine...

i also have an updated AVG antivirus it is telling me that shell32 has been changed and my CD drive opens and closes by itself i don't know if it's a virus or something else so please inform me if you have a solution

GOOD EVENING, I’m a bit late but better late than never.
I had the same problem and no viruses were detected.
I concluded that there was an issue inside the burner.
I simply disassembled the burner and desoldered the eject button and replaced it with another one from an old drive that was working. And the burner works perfectly.

Nobody found the solution? It's not a virus!
You need to disable wscript.exe (press ctrl + alt + delete) task manager...
And you stop the wscript processor
It's easy... but for me, I'm not an Administrator so,

Hum Hum ... If you can't find the application, I don't know exactly what you've done. Did you create a virus (like I did) .vbs or is it something else... probably a prorated server; you should reformat your PC...
Anyway, what I can tell you is to go to start, then click on search, click on all files and all programs, type wscripts.exe and you will find it. Delete all the wscript, leaving only the two system32 applications... I hope you understand, otherwise contact me at >> *****

me too I have the same problem
I presented it to the specialist who told me that the problem lies in the hardware and not in the software
so I changed it for another drive but I still have the same problem!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had this problem for several months without being able to fix it.
But recently, I had a connection issue with my MP3 player; I had to uninstall and reinstall
Windows Media Player to fix my problem.
Since the reinstallation of Windows Media Player, I haven't had any other problems with my CD player;
it works wonderfully now.
By fixing my MP3 issue, I fortunately fixed my CD issue as well.

You need to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete => Processes => Look for wscript.exe => click on it => stop the process   And there you go ;) !

I had this problem, I only fixed it by removing the front panel of the drive, probably because the drive wasn't closing properly.

Hello, It seemed that I had the same problem and I apparently solved it by removing the hatch from the tower that was interfering with the reader.

My CD reader/burner would open by itself the day after burning a CD...
I closed Windows Media Player, but it was still there in the task manager...

So I did...
Task Manager >> Processes >> wmplayer.exe >> End process
