Hello,
For several days, my CD-ROM drive has been opening and closing randomly several times a second a few minutes after turning on the computer. This significantly slows down the PC.
An "autoplay" dialog box for CDs also opens.
After about an hour of my CD drive being mishandled, this stops and starts again later.
I keep scanning my disk for viruses but to no avail!
What can I do?
Thank you very much in advance.

I know this topic is a bit dated, but I wanted to share my experience.
I had the exact same problem with a CD drive that kept opening continuously when the PC started up, long before the BIOS kicked in.
I ruled out the virus hypothesis by unplugging the hard drive, so it was either mechanical or electrical, but not software-related.
I fumbled around inside the PC for a little while, trying to plug and unplug, swapping the SATA cables until I finally stumbled upon something really silly.
The front of the PC has 4 USB ports located just above the CD drive, and one of the USB ports had a wire disconnected and was simply blocking the drawer closing mechanism... just a tiny little wire of crap ^^
Here’s hoping this may help someone else!
Can you help me fix this problem, please?
