By default, only the English language is used in Eclipse.

To have French, you need to install a plug-in via the Babel update site, whose specific addresses for the different versions of Eclipse are as follows:

* Ganymede: http://download.eclipse.org/technology/babel/update-site/ganymede
* Europa: http://download.eclipse.org/technology/babel/update-site/europa

If the localization of your operating system is already in the language in which you want to launch Eclipse, all you need to do in principle is simply launch Eclipse, and the correct language pack will be automatically loaded.
If this is not the case, you need to launch Eclipse specifying the -nl option.
In the command line, this must be specified as follows: eclipse.exe -nl fr

You can add the same option directly in your Eclipse launch icon.

Note that the Babel project seems to have some difficulty keeping up with the evolution of Eclipse and that the installation does not always go smoothly.
If you encounter difficulties with this plug-in, it may be better not to persist too much. The forum is there to testify to this.

On the other hand, even if it is always more pleasant to have an interface in your language and especially easier to understand, when it comes to getting help on a particular feature, keep in mind that it will be much easier to find it by searching with the original terms. So unless English is truly a torment for you, in the end, you should save time with the original version.

Hello, I'm responding to the post above. To set Eclipse to French on Windows, it's not complicated at all! You will find the language packs from Babel here: http://www.eclipse.org/babel/downloads.php

Choose your version (Galileo, Helios...) search for your language (French) and download all the packs for your language.

Unzip all the archives into a folder, each archive contains a Features folder and a Plugins folder.

Create a folder (to group everything), in this folder create a Features folder and a Plugins folder.

To simplify things, open 2 windows: one where you have a preview of all the archives and the other where you see the two Features and Plugins folders you just created.

Open each archive and copy the content (the content, not the folder) from the Features folders to your Features folder and all the content from the Plugins folders to your Plugins folder.

Then copy the content of your Features folder into the Features folder of Eclipse (where you installed Eclipse) and do the same with Plugins.

Open Eclipse (it may take some time) and there you go, it speaks French!!!

It is possible to install the French translations:

These files must be extracted and copied to the Eclipse installation directory. Installing the translation packs is enough.
