L4d2 console commands not working!

Hello,
I would like to try the codes in L4D2, but I can't open the console during the game. Can you help me (and explain all the steps ^^)?

I found that for those interested, you need to go to Steam, display the game list, then right-click on L4D2, properties, set launch options...
then you write "-console" (don't forget the -) after you launch the game and normally there will be the console inside, you write: "bind "F11" toggleconsole" (F11 allows you to open it; you can set a different key). After that you start a game but in solo mode because it doesn't work in multiplayer, then you press F11 to open the console, then you type vs_cheats 1 (if it tells you
Can't use cheats now; please exit to main menu and start your own listen server with "map mapname" so that you could enable cheats.

When you arrive on l4d2, it opens a console, just make sure not to click outside of it, click in the console and then type, for example, if you want to play on the Hotel map in Dead Center, you type: c1m1_hotels and hit enter, it will start a game and then in the game you press F11 or the key you configured to open the console, the game will pause, you type sv_cheats 1 and it will display something in color, codes can now be entered. For the codes, go to jeuxvideo.com, they have some good ones. To get the big weapon with 150 bullets from the sacrifice campaign, you type give rifle M60 then you type sv_infinite_ammo 1 for unlimited ammo. Then God 1 for invincibility :) Have fun ^^

I know how to open the console, you open the Steam game library, right-click on L4D2, go to set launch options, and type -console, then you open your game, type in the console bind "F11" toggleconsole, press F11 during a solo game and type for example in the console map c8m1 (no mercy campaign, apartments), then you do sv_cheats 1 and you can use all the codes that you see on cheat code websites.
Note: This only works in solo, which is annoying...
