How does a radio auto scanner work?

Hello,

Before, I used to listen to the radio on my phone at night in my room.
But the problem is that now my mom doesn’t want me to take my phone into my room at night (“it’s dangerous,” she says).
So I looked for a new way to listen to the radio, and I found a little thing called fm auto scan radio (Willy) in an old drawer, but I can’t figure out how to make it work (I know the batteries work because the light button works), which means I have a dial to adjust the volume, a button with a triangle drawn on it labeled "scan," another with a square drawn on it labeled "reset," a button with a light bulb drawn on it for the light (I believe it doesn’t do anything for the radio), a slider button "on/off," and a jack input.
I don’t know if it’s important, but there’s also a round part in the middle with a picture of dolphins and the word "Willy" (that’s why I wrote fm auto scan radio (Willy)), but it is surrounded by a "bar" in a circle shape (I don’t really know how to explain it) resembling the other buttons, so I’m not sure if it’s a button (or 4 buttons if we can press on each side like a phone). Also, I don’t know if it’s normal, but the device doesn’t have an antenna.

So can someone explain to me if I can listen to the radio on it? How does it work? And does the jack input serve to connect headphones (because I saw videos (with different devices than mine) of people plugging it into a computer or another device)?

Hi, she's right, you should listen to your mother.
