Solved

Hello,

For the past 3 days, emails sent to Hotmail.fr or .com have been bouncing back as 'undelivered' because I am on a block list. My server is Orange. What can I do to let Hotmail know that I am clean and have a good reputation?

Configuration: Windows XP / Firefox 3.6.9

It's a general Orange problem,
the solution is provided on the Orange forum:

http://entraide.orange.fr/assistance/messages/index/26400/messagerie-problemes-d-envoi-d-e-mail.html

I followed the steps to reconfigure my messaging, it seems to be working.

I have a much simpler way to solve the problem. Apparently, some IP addresses are blacklisted and sending to MSN, Hotmail, or Live addresses is no longer possible. So, I just unplugged my router and plugged it back in. It generated a new IP address. I sent the messages to Hotmail addresses and... it works!

I have this problem and I just applied what a previous comment suggested,
namely unplugging the "live box" and plugging it back in......Miracle, it works....But for how long ?????

Hello,
I don't have a solution, but your problem is far from unique and it's not related to your reputation. For the past three days, I've been facing the exact same issue, and after talking with others today, it seems that all orange to hotmail emails (and only those) are getting blocked. The only solution for now is to use a non-orange email address, it works.

The temporary solution is to use the Orange webmail only, temporarily dropping Outlook, to send emails to Hotmail,
the sustainable solution is to go to the site:
https://assistance.orange.fr/ordinateurs-peripheriques/installer-et-utiliser/l-utilisation-du-mail-et-du-cloud/mail-orange/mail-orange/gerer-vos-boites-mail
there will be 2 modifications to make (follow the procedure closely) and activate authentication...
it works definitively... But why is it so complicated to access these help platforms, and why most of the time nothing concrete and precise is offered? "I have the same problem, hang in there!" it's crazy how much that helps!!!!!
thanks to everyone who tries to help others with real "tips," clearly explained.

Temporary solution: Forwarding your emails to Hotmail from the Orange WEBMAIL. The emails arrive at their destination. BUT if I go back to my habit of sending a message from Outlook Express to Hotmail, I am not recognized by them and everything comes back "undelivered" with the same old story that I'm on a block list! Do I need to configure a special messaging software to avoid this blacklisting? This multifaceted war between Orange, Outlook, and Hotmail is stupid, and who benefits from this crime????

In my case, using the Orange webmail instead of Outlook Express allows me to send emails to Hotmail without getting that annoying "Undelivered" return, which makes it seem like you’re blacklisted for obscure reasons, written in deliberately incomprehensible English.
I would like to regain the freedom of movement I had three days ago with Hotmail and any other server. Although....... Hotmail is particularly prude and uptight, and will quickly reject you "for policy reasons"..
What to do? Wait, hoping that the hatchet will be buried between Hotmail and Outlook, or configure a mail client, or change my address?

Here is the message on the Orange forum:

Hello,
"Since 09/15, you may experience difficulties sending an email to a Hotmail address. Our technicians are currently working to resolve this issue, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused.
In the meantime, you have the option to use webmail or consult this discussion thread.

So there are not many solutions except to use the Orange messaging service (not very convenient, I admit) or to change the SMTP server settings on Outlook (see message above). For now, I have opted for the first solution.
It is indeed an Orange problem and not an Outlook one. Sending a message from another ISP (SFR, Bouygues, Free) to Hotmail using Outlook works perfectly.

temporary solution but which helps in an emergency: outgoing emails to Hotmail must go through the Orange webmail, which is not convenient when you are used to Outlook!
The safest solution is to follow the advice provided at: http://assistance.orange.fr/configurer-un-logiciel-de-messagerie-pour-contourner-un-blacklistage-1330.php
This new configuration is done from Outlook Express 6 (at least for me)
Tools - accounts - Mail tab - Properties - Server tab - etc.
Follow the procedure step by step, finishing with:
My server requires authentication.
And there you go, you can communicate with all Hotmail recipients on Earth!

Nonsense. Orange is aware of this problem (that they created) and is relishing it. When you call them at 3900, they offer you to contact one of their technicians for €30. It's a scam. All Orange subscribers need to "threaten" to leave for another provider, which might make them think. As for modifying the Outlook Express parameters (tools/accounts), it doesn't work. You need to tinker in the regedit to do so. No practical solution for now.
