Create a beautiful directory (Word or Excel)

Hello,

I have a Word and an Excel 2003.

I would like to create a phone directory for my company (about 500 people), and I need to put it on our intranet site so that everyone can print a paper version if they want. (I convert the existing one to PDF)
I'm looking for templates, but the ones I find on Microsoft online are awful.
