Je ne connais pas Darwin, mais ta demande est bizzare...
Sous Sarge par exemple, si l'env français est bien installé, quand tu fais "man letruczarbi", si le manuelle est dispo en français, il me le fournit, sinon il me le fournit en englais.
Cela se passe comment sous Darwin???

Bonjour,
Je ne trouve pas mon compte dans vos réponses.
Alors, je précise. Considérez que vous avez affaire à un freeBSD.
Par défaut, j'utilise bash.
Et ce que je voudrais c'est pouvoir appeler les pages dans les 2 langues.
En utilisant une commande spécifique pour chacune :
man pour l'anglais
man+f (ou une autre commande) pour le français.
Merci de continuer à vous creuser la tête.

Faudrait un script bash te permettant d'aller soit sur le man qui est installé d'office sur ton ordi BSD, soit qu'il aille directement sur un man
que tu auras insatllé ailleurs /opt/man ou usr/local/man
Avec un pointeur, ce pourrait être faisable, j'essaierai ce samedi et je te tiens au courant...

Bon, j'ai essayer de transformer le script /etc/man.config
sans succès
j'ai décompressé cette source man http://www.tldp.org/docs.html
(prends le lien man-pages-2.02.tar.gz)
dans /opt/mane.
Le problème c'est de trouver la source binaire du man, de la copier en transformant beaucoup de choses afin que lorsque tu appelles en console
mane ls, il aille chercher dans /opt/mane/man, par exemple.
il faut aussi changer le ./Makefile dans les sources ci-dessus afin de bien faire.
Un bazar, je te jures. Si tu as trouvé une technique, veux-tu bien nous la faire parvenir, je tournes aussi sous Bash.

essaie la commande man -a ta_commande
Si tu as des pages de man soit en français soit en anglais, à la première page, si elle ne te convient pas, tu fais q, s'il y a une même page en anglais, elle te la donnera...

J'ai eu longtemps le même pb que vous jusqu'à ce que je comprenne que l'indication qu'on voit dans certaines pages de manuel : LANG=C man ma_commande pour voir la page de man originale en anglais est tout simplement fausse.
La variable d'environnment LANGUAGE est très mal documentée.
Elle est évoquée dans man 7 environ.
Elle est absente de man locale.
LANGUAGE=C man ma_commande marche aussi.
Testé avec LANGUAGE=en man ls.
Pas la peine de préciser le No de section avant "ma_commande".
Faire un script à partir de la commande ci-dessus est trivial.

Ben justement, je ne sais pas trop.
Je crois que c'est soit l'un soit l'autre. Selon le path.
Et comme les pages ont le même nom…
