My CD-ROM drive is not working anymore. Solved/Closed

Hello everyone,

I have a problem with my Packard Bell laptop.
I can't read or burn anything anymore because my CD-ROM drive (MATSHITA UJDA750 DVD/CDRW) is unresponsive. I can eject a CD, but the drive doesn't read it.

I checked in AIDA, there's nothing to report. However, in my Device Manager, my MATSHITA UJDA750 DVD/CDRW drive has a yellow exclamation point in front of it.
I have encountered this issue before with my graphics card and sound card during a reformat. (There was a yellow question mark then).
I have searched for the drivers for MATSHITA...... but I can't find them.

HELLO,

I managed to solve my problem thanks to you!!!!!!!!!!!
Actually, I needed to use the Windows error code to search for the UpperFilters and LowerFilters keys.
Then I deleted everything and restarted MY COMPUTER.
(I had to go to the RUN program: Regedt32.exe)

Hi,  I suggest you to burn your master CDs using the master CD creator .... CDs that contain your OS and all the preinstalled software.    Otherwise, the generic master CDs for this model of laptops are  7002120102 and cost 61 euros plus hotline fees to order them.

Hello, I have the same problem as you except that for me it’s not a laptop but a regular PC, Packard Bell like yours, Windows XP, so here it is when I put my CD in the drive nothing happens and when I click on all my removable disks, none of them shows that my CD is in there, I think that was a bit of your problem so here I would like you to explain to me how you did it, did you go to regedit or what?? and then?? in the registry
Start menu/Run
type "regedit" and Enter
tab "Edit/Search"
type "lowerfilters" and Enter
to continue the search, use the "F3" key
and delete everything you find
then do the same search with "upperfilters"
you will find exactly what you want to delete
if there is a modem on USB port (Cibox or Neuf Box), disconnect it before restarting

I also have that kind of problem.  I have an ASUS laptop. I was quietly playing Civilization Warlords. I restarted the computer to switch from multiplayer mode to single-player mode. When I asked to restart the game, it asked me to insert the CD into the drive: cold sweat. Since then, there’s no way it recognizes a CD, or even a DVD. I've only tried installation CDs because that’s all I had on hand; is it necessary to try?? Otherwise, what should I do??

It's the C: icon that's not appearing anymore?? (I had the same problem but on my desktop computer) If that's the case, it means that your laptop (I believe) no longer recognizes your CD drive, The problem may be due to a connection that is no longer recognized (so try reconnecting it, but with your laptop I don't know if you can do it after disassembling! With a desktop it wouldn't be a problem) And if it's not a connection issue, well! I'm sorry but I think you will have to take your laptop to a specialist to get it fixed and maybe even replace your drive, which might be dead!

Hello, I found a very simple way to get your CD/DVD drives back in shape.
Because I've had the same problems as you and the solution was often to rummage through the Windows registry, which is a real hassle for many of us. SO here are the steps that allowed me to solve my problems!!!! (I have Windows XP Home)

1°)-->Double click on your LOCAL Disk (C:)
2°)-->Double click on the "WINDOWS" folder
3°)-->Double click on the "system32" folder
4°)-->Double click on the "Restore" folder
5°)--> THERE YOU HAVE "rstrui" (System Restore Application)--->double click

And there you check the option "Restore my computer to an earlier time," then -->click NEXT and there you click on the day when you are sure that ON that day your CD/DVD drives were still working and there you go, normally all your problems will be resolved.
This procedure also works if your drive can no longer read music CDs, CD/DVDs, ....

There you go, I hope I've been clear enough, otherwise send me a message on this discussion forum, bye, see you later!

Hello everyone, while looking for the source of my CD-ROM issue, I saw your messages but I don't understand anything. My computer is a Packard Bell iMedia F9547 running Vista. My drive doesn't move when I insert a CD; I've tried going through "My Computer" and it indicates that there is a CD (its name) if I want to run it and then pfffff... nothing. Hello; When we get older, we make more mistakes than young people. My problem: My HP Pavilion dv 5000 used to have a CD-ROM drive. It no longer appears in: My Computer, and of course when I insert a CD, nothing happens. In the system information list, it appears with the label: NOT INSTALLED. Hi Pietro Dromois,   Does it appear in the Device Manager? Double click on the CD-ROM drive line (Device Manager); there may be an error code and a message in the window that appears.

In the device manager, there is no yellow triangle in front of hl-dt-st-dvdramgma-4082n   then double-click on hl-dt-st-dvdramgma-4082n and tell me exactly what message appears in the window.  maybe a message + an error code (10, 19, 31, 32, 37, 39, or 41).
