Transparent background on Impress

Solved

Hello,
I need to make a presentation on Open Office Impress.
I want to set a background image for my slides. I go to "background", I load the bitmap image, it appears.
But I want it to be faded, since it’s a background image, I want it to be transparent.
So in "fill", transparency tab, I increase the transparency (even up to 100%), but the image remains opaque.

So, is this not how it should be done? I have already read several tutorials on the web but I couldn’t find a solution.

Thank you for your help.
Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 3.6

    in a more conventional way, here is the solution, I tested it and it works, I had the same problem as you

    Actually, I used a workaround, I applied a large transparent white frame at 50% over the entire slide and placed it between the background and the objects on the slide. That way, only the background is "whitened."

    There must be a more conventional way, but I haven't found it.

      There is another solution

      Put an image and crop it in the background so that it takes up the whole space
      Display -> toolbar -> Image
      and you can change the transparency of the image that way
