6-ohm speakers and 8-ohm amplifier

Hello,
I'm going to receive 6 ohm speakers and I have an 8 ohm amplifier.
It seems to me that the amplifier needs to have an impedance lower than that of the speakers. So, my future speakers are likely incompatible with my current amplifier.
However, I'm wondering if I could solve the problem by wiring my speakers in series: then I would have 12 ohm speakers (in series, resistances add up) for an 8 ohm amplifier ("The equivalent impedance of a grouping of speakers can never be less than the minimum load impedance accepted by the power amplifier. It must in all cases be equal to or greater.").
Thanks for your ideas and advice ;)
