Number of rows in filtered excel table

Well, well, well!!
I was just trying to avoid adding a column!
The "3" parameter for the subtotal function is great...what are the other parameters and their usefulness?...(bonus question :) )

You can, with an intermediary column:
place the number 1 in a column for each row of the table
in a cell above the filtered field (so that it remains displayed), the formula:
=SUBTOTAL(9;Limits of the column of 1)
will give you the total of the 1s that remain displayed.

I'm like you, I've struggled and I just found an easy solution.
On your table, before filtering, you act as if you want to do an automatic sum, except that you look for "average" by clicking on the little black cursor of automatic sum and you get your number of rows after hitting "enter". You leave it there.
Then you apply your filter and the sum changes every time with the correct number of rows - I did several tests. IT'S GREAT.
