Hello,

I have a Philips TV and I need to perform updates. I downloaded what is indicated on the Philips website. It is a compressed upg file. I tried to decompress it with WinZip and it does not work.
Please, can you tell me how to successfully decompress this file to update my TV?
Thank you.

You should not unzip it with the computer but only load it onto the USB stick and insert the stick into the TV.
It is the television that will automatically read the upg file.

I have the same problem as you, I notice that no one has an answer at the moment.

Philips or why do something simple when you can make it complicated to annoy everyone....

I found that you actually shouldn't pay attention to Philips' instructions.

You just need to download the update program on MAC or PC and transfer it to the television via a USB key in UPG format.

The television is able to read it without any problems.

I did that, but my TV still has a problem; some channels from TNT keep cutting off and it says "encrypted program." What should I do?

I don't know, but I did as you said, and my television doesn't find any files on the USB stick. I did everything I thought I was supposed to do, but nothing works; it doesn't recognize the upg files...

Hello everyone

The latest comments are a bit outdated, but if I can offer a little help, here’s how to proceed.
The volume bar was not showing on my Philips 55PFL4528 TV, I received a file from customer service, this file is a Zip, do not unzip it but extract it with a right click, or double click....a 150MB UPG file will be extracted, put it on a USB stick and then insert it into the TV, comments will appear, clearly let the update take place, then it will ask to restart...then reinstall in the "general settings" the TV to its original state, search for channels, etc....and at that point the problem should be resolved.

Hi Marobaset,
I downloaded the update and then switched to my USB stick, but my television does not see the update.
Did you unzip your file or not?
Can you tell me exactly what steps you took?
Thank you in advance.

Good evening everyone,
Having spoken with a Philips technician on the phone, I have some information to share:
First of all, always unzip the file but the most important thing is that if your television is functioning properly, there is no need to perform this update. Indeed, this update does not work like a software update: it does not bring anything extra and is only useful in case of issues to restart the television. And only in that case, after unzipping the file, the television will recognize this update.
I hope I have provided an answer to future posts.

Hello everyone,
I just received an update from Philips to do on my TV. Like all of you, the autorun file is .upg. Winzip being paid, I searched for a free software that supports this extension but I haven’t found any.
My search is for the future because indeed, as Muriel69 said, if everything works well, it's better not to do it especially since after checking the content of the version, the fixes don't concern me.
Thank you in advance for letting me know which FREE software can unzip a .upg file?
