VPN (paid!) + eMule on HIGH ID = impossible

Hello,

I currently have a paid VPN offer from hidemynet.com.

We can use the VPN with PPTP / L2TP or OpenVPN.

I understood that OpenVPN is more encrypted (1024 bits) and therefore more interesting in terms of anonymity.

What I don't understand is how to know which ports to use in UDP and TCP in the configuration of eMule to avoid having the black banner on the eMule icon and therefore be on HIGH ID instead of LOW ID.

I requested assistance from Hidemynet.com support and here is their response:

Our OpenVPN service is behind NAT. If you need open ports, you must use our PPTP or L2TP service currently. OpenVPN does not play nicely when assigning static IPs due to several flaws in its coding.

If I understood correctly, they told me that it doesn't work very well with OpenVPN, so I used my VPN access via PPTP as they suggested, but still, I am on Low ID on eMule.

I then sent another email explaining that I wanted to know the UDP and TCP ports I could use with their PPTP access and using pptp.dc.hidemynet.com, and here is their reply:

Our OpenVPN service is currently utilizing NAT. As such you will not be able to use incoming connections. We're working to correct this, but limitations in the server software prevent us from providing dynamic IPs to OpenVPN users.

In short, I turn to you because I don't know what to do anymore.

Hello, the post is a bit old but I'm here to provide a clear response on this subject!

To achieve high ID on eMule while using a VPN, you first need to ensure that your VPN provider offers port forwarding for each user or does not block the common ports, which are: 443 TCP and 1194 UDP for use with OpenVPN. For PPTP, the port is 1723.

If these two conditions are not met by your VPN (i.e., port forwarding or opening the above-mentioned ports), you will never be able to download with high ID on eMule.

    Regards.
