Word and Web

Hello,
A few years ago, I created an Internet site only starting from Word.
This is not the ideal solution but that functioned very well and allowed its easy actualization by nonspecialists.
But now that does not go any more.

When I safe, on the Hard drive, a Word document with an inserted photograph, I obtain a file with various information + 1 folder with the photograph. All is OK.

But when I copy this file+folder from the site or I transfer it via ftp with the program filezila, the file+folder are molten in only one document with the characteristic " multiple file types" , impossible to open.

Moreover, many old documents that were stored in file+folder form, were abruptly and without my intervention, melted into only one file with the characteristic "multiple file types" impossible to open.
Can jou help me?
- Which is the reason?
- Which solution?
