    Hello,
I am exposing my problem: all my letters with accents are no longer displaying on my screen unless they are in bold, in which case everything works normally. My antivirus does not detect anything; I have done several scans and still no virus!
How can I recover my accents on all my texts, including my emails and web pages as well?
IF YOU CAN HELP ME, I THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.
    Good evening to all

    Re Hello,

    For me, I found it!!

In the fonts, I had a font called Arial, but it had the symbol of a shortcut??

Anyway, when I double-clicked on it, the characters with accents were not present.

In short, I deleted it with the idea of reinstalling it correctly, but I didn't need to, after deleting it the accents were present again!!

    See you later, TiTools

Sorry Tazio, I don't know either! Your problem is really strange.

And I'm also sorry that my humor was taken the wrong way, I think it comes from "at an advanced stage" because I didn't specify what (I was thinking of blood alcohol level) but anyway it's still humor!

    Hi,

could you please provide a bit more details?
Did the problem appear spontaneously, or after a modification such as the installation or uninstallation of software, or any other changes in the system?
Which software is affected? Notepad, Word,.... all of them?
Which fonts are affected? All or only certain ones?

If it's just one font, it might be enough to simply reinstall it.

    Talk to you later
    best regards
    phil

      Hi,
I'll try to give you more information:
the problem appeared suddenly and it works very well on web pages and on emails in Office Pack. As for the font, I don't know much about it; it's all that's written in plain text (so not in bold or large). That's all the information I have for you, and thanks again for responding to me.

    re,

a first thing to check: in Internet Explorer, you need to look in the View/Encoding menu to see if the Western European font is selected; if not, select it.

      Hi,
thank you for your reply, but my font is correctly selected
and I still have the same problem. I don't understand much because some web pages have accents and others don't, and also in my Wanadoo messages I always miss the letters with accents. What do you think I should do? I've already reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled the entire operating system as well as all the software, and I still have the same issue after a day
I don't know what to do anymore.
Thank you very much for your help.

    re,

it's a strange problem. We should see if there's any spyware or a trojan on your computer; antivirus programs (even very effective ones) don't necessarily detect this kind of #@*. Run a scan with Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D (you can find them on download.com).

    Hi,
first of all, thank you for helping me, it's very nice of you.
Well, I downloaded Spybot and scanned my PC; it detected quite a few things, but I don't know what to do next because I must admit that I don't know much about computers.
So I'll send you the Spybot report by email, and that way you can tell me what I should do. Thanks.
    See you!

    Re,

Normally you can do everything, clean up, without any problem (fix the issues). In the worst case, it is always possible to restore deleted items by going to backups.
Personally, I always delete everything, and everything works well.
Additionally, I would recommend visiting the site http://sebsauvage.net/, particularly the 'safe hex' section to learn more about security and how to secure your computer.

    Hi,
I just received your email, thank you for responding so quickly. So I have just cleaned everything with Spybot and I will see if that resolved my problem. I will keep you updated. Thanks and have a good evening, see you later!

    It's me again!
Well, I guess I'm out of luck, it hasn't solved my accent problem. The site you gave me is pretty good, but sometimes I have trouble deciphering the texts because I'm missing all the letters with accents. Well, if this keeps up, I'll have to reformat everything and reinstall my entire PC because it's getting worse and worse. Well, I wish you all a good evening.
    See you!

    re,

Go to this site http://www.mozilla.org/, download FireFox and install it. It's an internet browser, it's safer than IE.
By trying it, you will see if your problem comes from Internet Explorer or Windows. If Firefox displays the accented characters correctly, the problem will certainly come from Internet Explorer, otherwise you will need to check on the Windows side.

Have a good evening and see you later

      re,
I just installed Firefox and tried it out, and my letters with accents appeared but in very large bold characters while the rest of the words are in small and clear characters, so I wanted to thank you for your help and thanks a thousand times again.

    Hello,

based on your last message, it seems that a font is damaged or missing. To confirm this, you should open a Word document and test it with standard fonts (Arial, Tahoma, Times,...) to see if any of them do not display accented characters.

    See you later

Hello, I have the same hassle....
What I just saw is that if I copy text with spaces instead of accents in Word, I can't then write éè äà...
    So I think it's a font issue.

    I'll keep you posted ..

    Hello,
thank you all for helping me especially: Phil_2045 and Titools, thanks to you I solved my problem: I simply deleted the Arial font from Windows because all the accents were missing, and I reinstalled it, and everything is working great now, so thank you a thousand times to both of you again.

In my opinion, the poor guy, at such an advanced stage like his, there's nothing we can do for him!
