No sound on Logitech LS11 speakers

Hello,
I just bought Logitech LS11 speakers and I plugged them in, but the device manager says no peripheral is plugged in
I have Windows Vista
Is my sound card fried ??

      yes but the old speakers worked for only a short time

      however I did a trick: in the config panel, in "sound" I clicked "disable" and since then I have a red cross on the icon
