What cable for this type of TV antenna socket? Solved

Hello everyone,

I need your help, after several unsuccessful attempts to connect a TV I recently bought to the wall antenna socket... Quite frustrating! :mad:

I moved into an old apartment, and the only available TV socket seems quite old as well (I might be wrong, unfortunately I don't know much about it...). There are actually two sockets right next to each other: "RD" and "TV".

I tried using my regular antenna cable, but no luck: I feel like something needs to be screwed into the socket.

If someone could help me that would be really great. I asked two sellers from "specialized" shops, but without success.

Hello, there are probably fruit and vegetable sellers, you need a male connector in 9mm to connect (green color).  Have a nice day. -- Everything comes to those who wait

you have two standard antenna sockets
RD for the radio
and
TV for the TV

if that doesn't work and to avoid unnecessary costs, call your landlord to say that your TV isn't working and HE needs to take care of getting it to work (I think he should change your socket because honestly it's crooked and it must have been damaged)

This type of connector was replaced by the Euro standard in '92 (I think) with a 9.52 connector.
Nothing to screw in there, before the Euro standard, it was a male 9mm wall/9mm male to the TV.

Today, if you buy a wall socket and a TV, your cable will be a male/female 9.52 at both ends.

Ok, so if I understand correctly, I need to find a male 9mm connector to connect to a standard cable (since my TV is quite new).

Do you know if this plug will affect the quality of the channel reception? Unfortunately, I imagine it will...

You have the option to wire the existing cable yourself, as long as the diameter is not too small. Avoid adapter plugs, which typically result in a quality loss of about 6dB on average.

If the cable is not too damaged within the sheath (an installation should be renewed every 10 years to avoid gain losses), you can try to dismantle your socket and connect everything using an F connector, as this will result in the least losses (fewer connections = less loss).

First, test with a 9mm connector before disassembling everything.
