"<" means "less than", which means that the first number is less than the second: 2 < 5
">" means "greater than", which means that the first number is greater than the second: 5 > 2
EDIT: Furthermore, in SMS language, <3 symbolizes a heart!

but it’s not guaranteed that I'll remember again: thank you for being there the next time I "find myself" facing them.
Just remember that the tip of the arrow points to the smallest number!
2<5 means that 2 is smaller than 5
5>2 means that 5 is greater than 2
it's not rocket science...
