Equivalent software to Publisher

Maybe in 2005 Scribus only worked on Linux, but on the Scribus website, it is stated that it works very well with Windows XP.

I always use GreenStreet Publisher 4 on VISTA and no particular issues to report. I hope it will continue to work for a long time because I haven't found any equivalent software; it's excellent!!!

Scribus or SE PagePlus

I'm looking too. Scribus works on Linux. Ragtime Solo is not free; if I want to install it at school, I have to pay the full price. I can only use it at home, for experimental purposes. Right now, I'm trying the Draw module of OOo, but I can't manage to do very simple things in Publisher, like setting up columns, for example, or linking text frames. Otherwise, I think it's good.
In the past, I used Pressworks, which really competed with Publisher, but it was taken out by XP and we haven't heard of it since. Too bad, it was half the price.
If you have any tips to share about OODraw, feel free to reach out.

Greenstreet actually sent me Publisher 4 but I can't install Power Text, it doesn't support my version of DirectX. I could no longer work on my old documents and so I switched to MS Publisher, which is very good but too expensive. If I could find a patch for Power Publisher, I would like to explore it a bit.

For the bug, it is caused by overly large folders
You need to go into the registry (regedit) and delete the last "recent path" from the "browser":
hkey_current_user/software/gst/system/browser/recent path
Right-click on folder 0 and delete it.

Pressworks is now called GREENSTREET PUBLISHER 3 OR 4.
I use it regularly, but there's a bug: it's impossible to import photos into a frame; you first have to open the files in software like PAINT SHOP PRO, for example, and work by copy-pasting. There is a corrective patch on the English site (patch in French), but it hasn't solved my problem. The company doesn't respond to emails... Otherwise, the version is very nice with many possibilities.

It should be noted that Publisher4 does not accept images in gif format; it crashes every time, so make sure that whenever you place your images in a folder, there are no images in that format (gif). And usually, it works!
