The white screen is related to a hardware issue, not a software one!

Therefore, only a hardware solution is feasible. This also explains why SAMSUNG is considering nothing other than picking up the computer from your home for repair. No update will fix the problem.

Two hypotheses:

-Either your NC10 is still under warranty, in which case you should contact SAMSUNG’s customer service, which will take care of retrieving and replacing the faulty cable, at their expense of course.

-Or your NC10 is no longer under warranty, in which case you will have to open the computer yourself, pull gently on the cable to give it some flexibility, and then disconnect and reconnect the cable. Personally, I used some tape to hold everything in place. To understand the purpose of this maneuver, it is important to know that the movement of opening the screen has the effect of loosening the cable. Conversely, the movement of closing creates tension in the cable which results in disconnecting, even slightly, the cable. Hence the white screens. This manufacturing defect explains why the white screen disappears or reappears when you manipulate the screen's tilt.

Here’s a tutorial for disassembling the NC10 https://www.journaldugeek.com/dossier/tuto-demonter-son-samsung-nc10/

Info: In the sixth photo, the cable corresponds to the thick black cable that can be seen just to the right of the fan.

And if you don't want to pay, you open it (we don't care about the warranty) and you fix it. I have this problem too and I'm going to fix it! :-)

Hello, for the white screen issue, for those for whom the tape trick on the connector only partially works as was the case for me, I had to remove all the tape from the screen ribbon to discover that my ground wire was cut. A small splice does the trick (a cold solder would be the best), some tape, and good lord, how nice it is to no longer have to play back and forth with the screen... bye.

White screen + user control mode ineffective for my case. I dropped off my NC10 at SAMSUNG's service center in Paris and 5 hours later it was repaired.... defect report: connectivity issue between the PBA and the TFT of the screen, re-soldering done.... A recurring defect on this model said the service center.

Good luck.

Good evening everyone,

a similar problem that I had is that when the screen brightness is at maximum, sometimes the screen would turn completely white. It was necessary to lower it a couple of notches (Fn Down Arrow) to restore display.

Solution: go to the Samsung website and download the latest firmware (the BIOS), an .exe file that you just need to double-click. It automatically flashes the BIOS, then you just have to restart, and the problem disappears.

firmware address for the nc10:

It only solves the problem temporarily. Then it gets worse. I'm having the PC picked up on Saturday morning by a carrier designated by Samsung. Indeed, the customer service seems really efficient!!! They wanted to pick it up the very next day!!

Correction of my previous message, the issue is not resolved and seems to be physical.

-----> solution: return to Samsung customer service.

Hello, I think I will also have to contact Samsung's customer service, but I've lost my receipt. Is it mandatory for customer service?

Kris

Response to Diplo63
model number + SN located on the back of the PC + invoice
They asked me for these three items... I think it's still mandatory! One thing might be possible depending on where you bought it. Go to the store where you got your PC and ask them if they can issue an invoice with your purchase date. In some stores it's possible, they keep electronic records.
I've used this method before...
Otherwise, check directly with Samsung, maybe with the SN they can see that the PC is quite recent... I don't know...
Good luck!

Hello,
I have this problem too. The screen sometimes turns completely white, mainly when I plug it into the power. It lasts about 5 seconds at most, but lately, it lasts dangerously longer, around 1 minute, and it's very annoying. Often, the screen goes back to normal after I press a key or move the laptop, but what’s certain is that it’s not normal. So, after reading your comments, I immediately called Samsung's customer service, and they are sending someone within 48 hours, hoping everything works fine after that.

HELLO EVERYONE

SAMSUNG IS WELL AWARE THAT THE NC10 HAS A WHITE SCREEN ISSUE, SO DON'T WAIT FOR THE WARRANTY TO EXPIRE AND USE THE WARRANTY BEFORE IT EXPIRES.
FOR YOUR INFORMATION, I SENT IT IN FOR REPAIR TWICE THROUGH CUSTOMER SERVICE, FOR A SCREEN ISSUE AND A KEYBOARD ISSUE: 2 WELL-KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH SAMSUNG.
(FROM ONE DAY TO THE NEXT, ONLY 5 KEYS FUNCTIONING, SAMSUNG REPLACED THE ENTIRE KEYBOARD)
GOOD LUCK!!!

And there you go, my Samsung NC10 was picked up on Wednesday, November 18 and I received it today, Friday, November 20!!! Apparently, Samsung got it on the 19th at 9 AM and it left their facility at noon!!! Hats off to Samsung's customer service, I've rarely seen anything so efficient!!!
My white screen issue has disappeared = LCD cable replaced
Regarding the problem with keys not working, like some of you, I don't have that issue yet... and if it has to happen, I hope it will be before my warranty expires!!

In any case, hats off and thank you to Samsung!!

Hello,

Following the same issue and guided by your responses, I called customer service who will come to pick up the computer.

My question is as follows: should I make backups or will my PC come back to me just as it is leaving?
Photos, documents, Outlook?

Thank you :)

Don't worry Kisa, they won't touch your Hard Drive, only the screen and the LCD ribbon, so no worries about your data... unless they lose your phone of course... but you can really trust them ;-)

Good luck. See you later.

I’m relieved!

Good evening,

My computer came back this morning from Dijon, in terms of timing, it's perfect, only 2 days.
However, my PC came back completely wiped of its content :-(
I wanted to inform you that contrary to what I was told on this forum, everything needs to be backed up before the LCD cable change.
There you go, and I am really sad and upset to have been poorly advised.

Always make backups... whether it's under warranty or not.

Good evening,

Look on page 2, I've asked the same question regarding mine which left this morning for Dijon, and apparently, no backup is necessary :)
There you go.
Kisa.

Good for you!
As for me, I clearly didn't have any luck...
Because when I say empty, it was empty....
Otherwise, the repair went smoothly.

I had the same problem as all of you, so I called Carrefour customer service (where I bought it) and they told me it was probably a capacitor issue. They had me remove the battery and unplug the laptop from the power source and hold the power button down for 40 seconds (apparently this discharges the capacitors on the motherboard). Since then, no more issues. So I didn't have to send my laptop back to Samsung.
If this happens to you, do this procedure and you'll see.

See you!

Hello everyone, I have the same problem as you. I bought it from SFR in August 2009 in Nice, which has a very good team by the way. The issue is that last Saturday I dropped off the Samsung with them, so far so good, and today, SFR Nice contacted me to announce that Samsung's customer service does not cover this problem under warranty..??? supposedly there is a broken part!! I own very high-performance PCs, and I only use this Samsung PC very rarely and I am quite meticulous, I regret the level of reliability
I will have more information this afternoon...

I had the same problem except that I had bought the Samsung more than a year ago, so no warranty service..
I disassembled my PC, and I simply unplugged and plugged back in the screen cable, and since then, no more problems.

Hello.

I am in the same situation as all of you. I would have been happy to contact SAMSUNG to proceed with the replacement of the defective part, but unfortunately I delayed too long and my warranty has expired.

I have reread all the comments on the subject and only JONA and TAGADOU are in the same situation as me. These two people had to open their NC10 and fixed the problem themselves.

" Having the same problem, I disassembled the netbook, taped the wire properly so it wouldn't move anymore and it has been working like a charm for the past 2 months :p"

"I had the same problem except that it had been over a year since I bought the Samsung, so no customer support. I disassembled my PC, and I just unplugged and reconnected the screen cable and since then, no more problems."

Not being an IT professional, I would like to know;

- if the process is difficult? Do you need any special equipment?
- what exactly does the repair involve? (if you have any photos or a tutorial I am interested :-D)

Thank you in advance to those who will be able to respond. This white screen is really starting to weigh on my nerves.

for the disassembly
you need to find the cable that connects the screen to the motherboard, reconnect...

Great, the procedure took me less than 5 minutes and it works perfectly!
Indeed, it was due to a poor connection at the screen cable connection at the back.
Procedure: - 4 screw covers to remove at the 4 corners of the screen (2 round on top, 2 square on the bottom)
- then remove the 4 screws
- remove the front cover, being careful with the clips; if you have nails, that's perfect lol
- then remove the 4 screws that hold the screen at the bottom, 2 on each side
- slide the screen forward, being careful with the cable at the bottom left, then reconnect it well; a piece of tape helps to avoid doing this every month
- and reassemble everything

Procedure is not complicated but should be done with care (don't be rough :p)

P.S.: Sorry for the spelling mistakes lol

WHITE SCREEN!
Ten days ago, I contacted Samsung customer service, which sent a courier to pick up my computer last Friday, and this morning, they delivered it back to me repaired.
Thank you and hats off to Samsung customer service!
