Thank you for the moments spent on the response.

MSI is the Microsoft Windows Installer service.

The message your computer indicates two possible situations:

1. That the last installation (installation of a program such as Norton Firewall or Adobe Acrobat Reader or any other program including Windows Update itself if set to download automatically) did not COMPLETE NORMALLY so it is not finished OR that the last "uninstallation" is not completed...

On the Symantec website at the following address (http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nip.nsf/pfdocs/2003092915164136) there is a procedure you can use as a guide to fix your problem: it mentions downloading a utility and the description can be found at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/fr

However, and this is something you can really know, if you have not done any installation or uninstallation recently, if you do not have Windows Update in automatic mode and you receive this error message, you should consider scanning your PC with an up-to-date antivirus and anti-spyware...

Bye!

Otherwise, you can download an MSI update from 01net.
This happened to me when I installed something on Windows 98

The PC is a wonderful machine to which we give:
A dust cover and a hat for errors.
