[XUbuntu] Ecran noir au démarrage

Bonjour,

J'ai installé Xubuntu 8.10 sur mon portable et j'ai aléatoirement des problèmes
d'écran noir au démarrage. Au lieu d'arriver sur l'écran de connexion, l'écran
est totalement noir (comme si l'ordi était éteint) et impossible de faire quoi que
ce soit, j'ai essayé plein de combinaisons de touches (ctrl + alt + f1 etc...) mais
rien n'y fait. La seule option est de redémarrer l'ordi.
Au départ je pensais que c'était compiz qui causait ces pb, mais j'ai vu dans Synaptic
qu'il n'était pas installé (apparemment en option sur XFCE), donc ça vient pas de là.

Est ce que ce serait un pb de drivers mal géré par Ubuntu où quelque chose comme ça ?

Voici ce que donne un lspci:

redemarre en mode dégradé et affiche les log de xorg

Salut et merci pour ta réponse.
Je ne connais pas le mode dégradé.
Comment faire pour redémarrer dans ce mode ?

j'en sais pas beaucoup plus sur le mode dégradé, mais j'ai localisé les 2 fichiers de log
dans /var/log/ :

Xorg.0.log
Xorg.0.log.old

Ces fichiers font des centaines de lignes et je n'ai vraiment aucune idée de ce qu'il faut chercher ni dans lequel
des 2 fichiers je dois chercher.

Hier soir ce pb d'écran noir est revenu lors d'un redémarrage.
J'ai donc noté l'heure exacte et récupéré les infos dans syslog, mais je ne
sais vraiment pas quoi chercher comme indice ayant rapport à ce pb (la partie concernée
fait au moins 600 lignes).

Quelqu'un pourrait-il m'aider ?

Toujours ce pb d'écran noir au démarrage.
La dernière fois que c'est arrivé, j'ai redémarré l'ordi et récupéré les infos dans syslog.
Puis, j'ai comparé le log de la session qui a échouée (log_fail), avec le log de la session suivante (log_next).
Voici donc les différences que j'ai pu noter entre les 2 fichiers log:

dans log_next il y a cette ligne qui n'est pas présente dans log_fail:
